On the good side, DH's high school is offering free covid testing up to twice a week for the students and staff. This is a big help for his team issues. Of course parental permission, which is easy enough for the players. On the bad side, seriously Florida, 1 million tests left to expired. Heaven forbid DeSantis lets people get tested then his numbers would go even higher,

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Timelies all!
We got snow last night. Mr. S's school went virtual. I went to work as usual. No rest for the weary...
Today was our self eval deadline too. Ugh. But next week I have to do like seven actual reviews, which I’m looking forward to even less.
I did hear from my boss today (who also hadn’t finished doing his review) that he expects our bonus pool to be healthy this really. So that’s nice. It’ll be three months and a lot of arcane mathiness before any of that is real anyway.
We always get the email about how great the company is doing in the Q4 earning call, and then they turn around and talk about how the bonuses might not be funded at target. @@
Yeah, i think my company is spending all its mad money on hiring bonuses rather than retention….but fingers crossed. They usually tell us in March.
Omg. I tried to entertain my dog with tv. He found the chirping birds interesting for a while, and eventually ignored them. There were squirrels for a moment, and he perked up. But when the turkeys came? He flipped out, barked his head off, and didn’t shut up for like five minutes after I turned off the tv, he was convinced they must still be around somewhere! He’s still on guard duty at the window in case they come back. Who knew turkeys were his nemesis?.
Who knew turkeys were his nemesis?
Heh! Well, he does look like a chicken nugget.
My assistive living is closing the dining room for ten days (at least) so no social dining until the 17th. We're still going to have small-group program activities, and they're not required to stay in their rooms, either, the theory being that some social activities are way better for their (not just) mental health.
Everyone who can be is boostered, but we've had another staff member with breakthrough. BIG sigh.
My coworkers Boyfriend (who she lives with) test positive yesterday, mid-day. She could get no guidance really on what to do. Luckily my building is in an old dorm, so all of us have separate offices, and I haven’t really been close to her in days. But also, I don’t want her to get sick either! She has to go home to the boyfriend!
I accidentally typed cow-orker, but she is lovely, so I changed back to coworker.
We haven’t received word that it is OK to work from home, but faculty are definitely doing it and staff have signs up. I like going in, so I will continue, but I envision that next week we will be back to the five of us who came back as soon as we were allowed. That was sort of ideal- not home, but also not people knocking at my door!
Does anyone have any recommendations for things to watch? I feel like everything I want to watch is on HBO Max, Disney Plus, Acorn, and Peacock, but what I have is Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Hulu. I tend to prefer TV shows to movies, and there is SO MUCH TV, but I still feel I have watched it all. (Only Murders in the Building and The Chair were great!)
