I’m sorry, askye.
Nothing much~ma for the lump, Pix. I hope your coworker comes through ok.
My university is going remote until January 18, in the hope that the Omicron surge will have peaked by then. I start back (from my living room) tomorrow. It’s been a nice break, although I could have lived with not spending half of it with a cold (apparently not COVID, though, so at least there’s that).
We are still planning in person orientation January 6. I do not know how long this will last.
Pix- that sounds terrible.
Askye- I am so sorry.
One of my favorite residents died (in a rehab care place) the same day that Betty White did, but I didn't find out until this morning. She was 93 and very frail, so while it's not tragic, it's still sad. Part of the job, I know, but still.
But at least two other residents came back from hospitalization today. And only one resident is on Covid isolation (not quarantine -- so not an active infection) so overall the situation seems under control.
On the up side, I got another favored resident out to get his glasses repaired. Found a convenient parking space in Harvard Square just around the corner, too -- and then I was able to get my own glasses repaired, because a teensy screw came loose over the weekend.
Still, it was a day that I kept paddling as fast as I could.
Pix, I'm very sorry. It's a lot. ~ma to you.
askye and dcp - I am so sorry about your losses. My condolences.
Hi, hi. Laura emailed and asked me to post this very important announcement: Yesterday, we celebrated the natal day of shrift! Many happy returns to you, shrift. Glad you're home safe and sound.
As I've said many a time to many of you -- Birthday +1 is totally a thing. Happy B+1, shrift!
(Laura is recovering in bed this week -- if memory serves, it's her foot surgery; she misses y'all and is hoping to make a return to the glowy box tomorrow).
Pix that is a lot. Take care of yourself...
Since I'm officially a New Yorker again I look forward to the disease-fighting properties of all that swagger.
