Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Aw, well done, dcp!

Hope DH continues to be okay & dealing with the truck not too onerous, Laura!

but I made it there and I am proud of myself!

And we are proud of you! The journey of a thousand miles and all that!

Epic I am in La Jolla!

Nice! I am out in the burbs. Your views are substantially better! And with new, improved internet, yay! (edit: just verified my cell # is in my profile in case you want to reach out while you're here)

Congrats, Trudy! And though the maple syrup/tea thing would never have occurred to me, now that you say it, it sounds good.

Not commenting on the anti-vaxxers - no time for a rage blackout this afternoon.

Edit (again); check out that awesome slumbernut!

Still settling in Epic but I’ll try to hit you up!

We walked down to the beach a few blocks away and the dogs are allowed there after 4pm so we got to let them run around.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Dcp, that is so cute!

WRT to the nurses who are unvaccinated I keep recalling a podcast so listened to on Slate (so maybe Jesse listened too) about protests against the NYC vaccine mandate for city workers. One worker held a sign that just said “I am very angry”. I think for some folks it was a thing they thought they could control after all of this. Not rational, but still. And I can tell the chief medical officer is also very angry. And we are all, all very angry. And that is not a good state for healthcare providers or educators to be in. It is like everyone is stuck in that Alice’s Restaurant verse where he says “I want to Kill. Kill. Kill.”

What is even happening?

Onerous medical stuff completed. I review the results with my doctor on Monday.

I'm going to boast a little. There was a small boy, perhaps three years old, in the reception area with his father and grandmother. They were waiting for the grandmother to be called back for some test or procedure. The boy was bored and restless. Even his father's phone couldn't hold his attention. I went and got a business card from the supply at the intake nurse's station and folded a jumping frog to give to the boy. It went over very well. I think I made his day.

I'm holding a good thought for your results, dcp.

As for making the frog? That's so kind of you. A little thing like that can make a big difference, not just to the child, but to the parents, too.

Our wings are not tired.

Hope DH continues to be okay & dealing with the truck not too onerous, Laura!

Thanks, he is physically fine, and very grateful that the car hit was a big SUV without a passenger as it could have been a lot worse. Insurance will deal with the rest of it.

Trying to not be lazy this morning. Was up at 5:30 so I have already spent 3 hours reading, drinking coffee, catching up with news (yuck, have I mentioned the world has gone mad?), and upgrading one of my computers to Windows 11. DH is doing basketball practice at the beach this morning, which means the boys are sprinting and doing all manner of leg destroying maneuvers that they will feel big time later.

He is doing so well with his new health kick that I could weep. It took him so long to take it seriously. He's already lost over 60 pounds and has to pack up the way too baggy clothes this weekend. So proud of him. As soon as I do this surgery I should be able to start walking with him again which will be very good. Walking the beach at sunrise is the very best way to start the day and I haven't done it in too long.

Now about that being productive thing.....

Today is a day to celebrate the birth of amych! I hope that you are showered with love today and that the year to come is a complete delight.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

dcp - the smile you just made me smile? your gift was to more than just that child. thank you.

yesterday was payday and I already got a low balance alert from my bank. paid most of mac's rent and had a stupid speeding ticket and a toll bill from oct. ugh.

then see on news that the md college bball coach is leaving and getting a 5mil pay out and I want to scream into the void. i mean, theoretically I make enough money, but I splurge on things and don't have enough for these unexpecteds. but I do have savings, so I need to just transfer and stop the unnecessary spending.

in not stupid $$ news, but still stupid - the stories I could tell about the nightmare of testing at work. sabotage, conspiracy theorists in unions, testing vendors at risk of losing licenses. just a mess on so many levels. this was week one of testing and we only tested at a few sites.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

He is doing so well with his new health kick that I could weep. It took him so long to take it seriously.

That's so great! He's really working at it.

Yay Brendon. Boo bureaucracy msbelle. I also need to pay a parking ticket. Sigh.

I woke up with a headache this morning but my friends had gotten up to walk on the beach early (and they saw seals!) and brought back pastries! Yay.
