Everyone has tested negative for COVID-19 thus far aside from my poor niece. Here's hoping we all continue to test negative.
I'm hoping my family won't say anything that will make me take off my earrings this Thanksgiving, but at least my brother brought an adorable puppy distraction.
My dog is napping and not watching the dog show. We’ve cooked all the desserts and are feeling lazy and mr flea proposed we skip cooking the actual meal. But we’ll get there. We always eat at actual dinner time so we have time.
I’m thankful for you all, my invisible friends of so many years.
Yay adorable puppy distraction! I’m at a friend’s and she has two labs, one is 7 months old, and all three dogs together is exhausting. (Just the older two would be fine, but throw the excited young one in and everybody gets wild)
Also I am once again for no obvious reason incredibly itchy on my neck and décolletage. Am I allergic to something? Why isn’t the rest of me itchy? Wtf body?
Dinner at nephew's house is at 6, and Tim just decided that he wants to visit his dad, but he wants to visit in the evening (which would be around 6-ish). I am never going to object to that, and obviously his family is going to be fine with us coming up for appetizers at 3 and then leaving in time for Tim to visit his dad, so that's the plan. I'll just leave the pie there, NBD, I really am trying to cut way back on sugar.
We have taters and a box of GF stuffing in the pantry, and some broccoli in the fridge that I can roast, and maybe I can get some turkey to go from Nephew, but if not, I honestly don't care. Tim really, really wants to see his dad, so we're going to make that happen and everything else will fall into place. We can have a dinner of side dishes here. And unlike last year, at least we'll get to see the family for a little while.
Happy Thanksgiving, Peoples who celebrate!
It is gray here & I have communicated with my family in their preferred way: via text. I am making a Turkey breast & don’t have to put it in til 2 pm. I made the cranberry sauce yesterday, my stuffing is going to be from a box & potatoes are no problem. Still deciding what I want to do with sweet potatoes & a non-starchy vegetable.
just had a lovely hike in the redwoods with my niece & her husband (the wedding is in Feb but they are already legally married for paperwork reasons), and now I shall shower and lounge about a bit. Oh, hey, I'll go find Alice's Restaurant on Youtube...
M is in charge of the food and he has it cooking. We underestimated the weight of the turkey so ut wasn't close to done when I left.
I was on the interstate when I remembered I was supposed to bring the wine that I had left in my living room so I stopped at a grocery store and got wine and impulse buys including shrimp cocktail! We were all starving so we had a bunch of appetizers and are planning on the actual meal at 3:30 or so. Which actually means we start heating stuff up soonish
We had a lovely, chill Thanksgiving. Now there is a football game in that no one I watching, because three of the five people in the room are asleep, and the one who is "watching the game" is... not. She is watching her phone.
I walked all three dogs (separately).
Ooh, now we're going to Bananagram! Nice!
Oliver and I just got back from the skating rink and we are starting dinner. DH prepped everything last night and pre-baked this morning.
So we just need to do the spuds and the beef tenderloin.
Happy Ritual Sacrifice with Pie.
