I did see that, and thought it might not be a bad choice for an emergency hurricane stash or something. Like -t, there are times when eating it cold out of a can might not sound bad. And hey, no artificial color added!

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
DH and I are hosting this year, as we're the Grown Up Friends (and also have a toddler who naps). We are providing turkey, potatoes, gravy, and pie. We'll see what else shows up.
It's funny how the circle of life works. We both used to be the youngest in our friend groups, but since moving, we're now the ones saying "you have a job with a retirement account! You can buy pans with bottoms that are actually flat and cars that don't die every six months!"
The newest addition to the group asked for clafoutis for his birthday dessert. I was like "I don't know if we cam get cherries, but sure!" I only knew what it was because of my invisible friends.
Timelies all!
Today was our nanny's last day. We don't have a new one yet, though Gary is looking in several places. I'm expecting Mr. S to be sad about this. Transitions are hard for him, so the next few weeks will be interesting...
Good luck with the nanny search, Sheryl.
I’m sorry everything has been messed up for so long, -t.
I’ve prepped the sweet potatoes for tomorrow’s bake. Peeling and chopping them is always the time consuming part. I like making these. [link]
The pie is in the oven. One of my guests hates pumpkin pie spice, so I’m making a chocolate pie instead. Wine is in the fridge (a bottle per person, although I doubt we’ll go through it all), and the Cornish hens are thawing. Thanks to Salty Pirates, getting the apartment ready was relatively easy.
I got my SIM card finally! It is inserted though the procedure made me feel like a Walrus trying to do brain surgery on a chihuahua. So tiny. So light. So easy to drop. Where's the fucking tool to pop out my SIM card? I just had it one second ago! They turn instantly invisible after you put them down.
Now it is well and truly activated with my server but still no service exactly yet.
Also I did laundry.
Also, I made a whole Thanksgiving solo dinner for our friend Maggie (roasted turkey thigh, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, slice of pie). I have to make stuffing and mashed potatoes again tomorrow for us but that won't be much. Mostly I'll have to just cook the turkey. Tonight I'll make the mushroom stew so should be relatively easy tomorrow.
There's been much cleaning and organizing and putting-things-in-storage, and Matilda has been a champ. Boxing up books, wrapping presents, tearing up Ciabatta for stuffing, snapping green beans. All while cleaning up and reorganizing her room.
JZ is putting the spanikopita together so it will just have to be popped in the oven tomorrow.
So my remaining tasks tonight: make mushroom stew and dry brine turkey.
Good luck with the nanny hunt, Sheryl, I hope things don't get too interesting.
I remembered partway through the day that I know how to access the warehouse management software which IS working so I was able to use that to actually answer some questions. Stayed logged in for an extra hour or so just in case the ERP came back up but no dice. I meant to go to the gym after work but I futzed around aimlessly for too long and now it's dark and I don't want to go out, so instead I am going to curl up and watch Hawkeye and see how the evening goes from there.
I am not convinced by shrimp in the mac and cheese, but I guess it's a close cousin to a seafood fondue.

It's sort of like a lobster mac and cheese. But with shrimp. Note: I'm not cooking the shrimp in the M&C. They're just buttery tasty protein surprises among the richness.
We may have a turkey disaster today. When I ordered groceries I didn't order a pan for the turkey becuase M said he would get one. He did not.
So we only have pans that are... just barely wider than the turkey and not as deep as needed. So... yeah.. We put the pan on a baking sheet and are hoping for the best. Also we don't know how much the turkey weighs because we forgot to note that before the plastic wrap was thrown out.
Also most of our sides are premade. I had thought about making something but I'm not right now. It won't be the best thanksgiving ever but it's going to be a thanksgiving.
askye, you could cut up the turkey and roast it in pieces on the baking pan?
I have a maple pecan pie and sour cream-chive rolls to bring. I'll make the whipped cream just before I leave. Oh, and 3 bottles of wine. My pandemic shopping has mostly been wine, so I have a lot of choices. Today I'm bringing a Syrah, a big red blend, and a Riesling. I haven't tasted the Riesling, so I'm looking forward to trying that.
This will be entertaining: I will certainly be the oldest person at this Friendsgiving.
