I'm back in a theatre, actually sitting in tech rehearsals for A Christmas Carol. The last time I was in a theatre for tech was March of 2020.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Man, this last 18 months. So weird.
I am very glad not to be hosting Thanksgiving, since my kitchen faucet is dripping water all over the under-sink cabinet. Yay.
Still, I'm making maple-walnut pie to bring to Friendsgiving. And I have to remember to whip the cream as well, and add a little bourbon.
Ooh maple walnut pie sounds delicious! I made it from Ashland down to SF today, and am staying with a friend. So I may make pumpkin pie but am open to suggestions on a second dessert to make, if anyone has suggestions!

Wow, that is amazing!
I wouldn't say this to anyone in my family, but I just realized why I'm not super into our Thanksgiving dishes: my aunt, who hosts, is allergic to nuts and shellfish! So there is a pecan pie, but that is it for nuts, and historically my family would have had shrimp cocktail at a holiday, but no more. It's all good, don't get me wrong, but my father raised me to believe that everything is better with nuts in it.
I’m hoping to get a lot done today, but I took a lazy morning. Now to shower and get going. Turning off the tv and putting on some music.

Same. A good friend, and regular attendee at stuff I host, is also allergic to nuts. So I've gotten in the habit of avoiding/substituting for them. But she's not coming to dinner tomorrow, so I'm going to have candied pecans as one of the appetizers and walnuts in the Waldorf salad. It feels transgressive, but delicious.
Mmmm, nuts. Fortunately no nut allergies in my family. We do have some vegetarians. I added some of the Whole Foods vegan chicken tenders for the kids. Starting to cook side dishes today. Alas, my nesco roaster is nowhere to be found. Probably in the attic or storage, so I have to put the turkey in a roasting pan in the oven. (grateful to have 2) I think I'll do it the way Mom did roasting it overnight at a lower temperature.
Still haven't heard back from house dude. Dude, come on already, make your offer! He did take like 4 months to get back to me the first time he saw it, but he knows it will list for a much higher price very shortly. Giving me heartburn here.

I will be serving shrimp cocktail tomorrow! Come to my house.
Also coconut shrimp with Thai chili sauce for dipping.
Also grilled shrimp in the Mac & Cheese. Shrimpsgiving!
We are smashing 6 people into our kitchen for Thanksgiving this year since Emmett's girlfriend, Kalena, is joining us. We're going to move the corner cabinet out to make room, but that will allow for a thorough (and overdue) floor mopping today.
I've got so much to do today. I'm trying to cook as much as I can ahead of time so it's just turkey tomorrow.
I am at work as usual. Our ERP was down most of the day on Monday because, from what I am told, somebody tried to improve something and that broke it, but it was fixed in the evening and we had a pretty normal day of functional software yesterday but today it is down again and OF COURSE all the people who I put off on Monday but were too polite to pester me yesterday are now asking if we are able to answer their questions and no we can't but I just do not have it in me to explain why.
As a nut-allergic person, please do enjoy my share! Nuts are delicious and I miss them. Other people getting to enjoy them fully gives me a warm glow of vicarious yum
Shrimpsgiving!
Man, I want Shrimpsgiving!
All I have to do is bake a pumpkin pie tonight. Thanksgiving is at Tim's nephew's house (we think he and his GF wanted to host b/c they're going to announce that they're engaged and/or pregnant), so we're bringing pie, wine, rolls, and a big ol' cheese and charcuterie plate for before dinner. I love shopping for wine, cheese, and charcuterie, so it's a win-win.
