Thrive to spite them

I'm basically just killing time before I go to work. I have a lot of tasks for tomorrow and the next day like write Christmas cards and get them mailed. I'm just not in the holiday mood. I kind of am but I wish I could get all of the stress of work out of the way so I can enjoy Christmas, but that's not possible since it's going to run right up until Christmas.

However! I may try to celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas doing something kind of festive and fun even if it's not a full out Christmasy thing.

It's just been such a weird year.

When I worked at the Florida Dental Association there were 2 member doctors who were identical twins, who lived in the same city (who were in different specialties) but had the same first name and different middle names that started with the same letter. So they were like John A Smith , orthodontist and John A Smith periodontist . It was very confusing

Twins with the same first name? Wow, that is either a terrible idea or genius or maybe both. Disclaimer - I think people in the same family having the same first initial is confusing, but lots of people do that purposefully and apparently quite happily

Hooray for onerous phone calls not needing to be made!

I hope you get to enjoy some holiday spirit and festivities at some point, askye. There was a point in my life where I regularly did Thanksgiving dinner in June or July with some coworkers just because we were always working over the holidays.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I hate to say it because I do miss my family, but I am so not stressed about Christmas this year. Most of the gifts I usually buy for people and have to wrap have been shipped directly to their recipients from the website they were purchased from. So, I really only have to wrap things for TCG and ltc. Santa's gifts don't get wrapped as is tradition in my family. We're cooking things we have never really cooked before for Christmas Eve and Christmas day, but if it turns out terrible, who is going to know?

Punishingly Intricate

I have 2 aunts (with the same parents) who have the same first name. They aren't twins, though. Neither of them has ever gone by their first name, fwiw.

Yeah, that's always a winner.

I have a friend whose mom is named Maria, and my friend and her sister are both Marias with different middle names - her sister goes by a shortened version of her middle name, my friend goes by Maria, and their mom goes by her Philippina nickname. So... it's not really confusing unless maybe you're the SSA?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I knew identical twins Bill and Bob who were both Earth Science Teachers and semi-professional jazz trombonists. At least they taught at different schools!

I also knew a family who were named Mary Sue, Mary Ellen, Mary Jo Marianne, Marilyn, and Lenny. I found the Lenny to be really.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, that's somewhat normal -- every girl is Mary/Maria Something, but they don't all go by Mary/Maria! Either both names, or just the middle, or whatever.

This makes me think of my Korean-American coworker who only goes by one name at work, and my impression of Korean names is that all siblings would have half their first name be the same, like Sung Ho and Sung Jee, so basically the same thing as Mary Alice, Mary Catherine, etc. I guess going by Mary/Sung out in the world isn't confusing, but it still feels funny.

I thought I was going to have to call Amazon because they told me my package had arrived, but I didn't have it... until I clicked through and it was from someone else's wishlist, and shipped directly to them, so I am assuming they did get it!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

My family has been sending the following texts several times a week for the past 2 weeks: "Amazon says you got a package from me today -- can you check?" or "I got an Amazon package today but I don't remember ordering anything -- is it from you?" or "You're getting an Amazon package tomorrow -- DON'T OPEN IT UNTIL CHRISTMAS."

The closest I have to that is my babushka and her sister both married men named Oleg. So I guess my dad and his cousins all technically have the same middle name (although I don't know that they all are legally named Olegovich, my dad changed his name to add it when he was 18). Oh, and my great grandfather's mother, first wife and second wife(my great grandmother) were all named Emma. Which, you know, Freud or something, right?
