Random pleased with myself stuff: I see my PCP for my 6 month check-up on Wednesday and can't wait to show him my weight chart. I have lost 26 lbs in the last 26 weeks. One lousy pound a week, but it appears that is the way it goes with me. As of this morning down 50 pounds in about a year. At this rate, I should get to my goal weight next summer. The only downside is that at my age the skin just isn't bouncing back at all. Every single part of my body is wrinkly and flabby. Whatever, I'll deal. Next summer one of those nice full-body bathing suits I see some women wear on our beaches!
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.

You're doing so well!
I woke up this morning and my first thought was, "This is Laura's favorite day of the year."
Our regional school district is doing several vaccine days just for the 5-11 age group and I happened to be sitting at the computer when the email came in and jumped on an appointment. Good luck getting one, everyone with younger kids.
I got my booster and my flu shot yesterday and so far all I’m feeling is fatigue.
Both of mine got their first shots yesterday! They did great and reported only soreness afterwards, no other side effects. Good luck to everyone else! I'm so thrilled this is finally happening. We're going to be able to see grandparents over the holidays now, including Mark's dad, whom we haven't seen in almost two years and who's not in great health, so that one feels especially important.
"This is Laura's favorite day of the year."
It is! Except I would really and sincerely prefer to never ever reset my clocks again. It is harder to adapt every year. Such foolishness!
So good to read about the kiddos getting safe.

For young kids two years is such a long stretch, such a big percentage of their lives. So glad there's reunion coming soon.
Okay, I'm both worried and furious: worried because Tim's dad most likely had/is having a stroke, and furious because when the goddamn staff at his assisted living facility went to help him get ready this morning and he couldn't use his left arm or left leg, they put him in a wheelchair and TOOK HIM DOWN TO BREAKFAST. What the actual fucking fuck? How negligent do you have to be to realize an 83-year-old man's physical abilities are suddenly newly impaired to the point that he can't use his arm or leg on the same side and instead of going "Hmmm, these are obvious stroke symptoms," you go "Eh, he can't walk, so let's stick him in a wheelchair and take him to breakfast"?????? I'm full of rage right now.
AND. The facility didn't even call Tim or his brothers; they found out because one of Tim's brothers visits their dad every Sunday after Mass. And so Tim's brother was like, well, he needs to go to the hospital and by the way, why didn't you call us? And the facility was like, oh, we were going to call you, and okay, you can take him to the hospital. Tim's brother quite reasonably said, uh, CALL THE GODDAMN LIFE SQUAD.
So the goddamn life squad was in fact called, the EMTs took one look at Jack and were like, yup, this man is having a stroke, and they took him to the ER. Only one person can be with a patient in the ER, so Tim is with his dad at the hospital while they run tests.
What a hot goddamn mess.
Jesus, Steph. That's awful.
Miley is having incontinence in her sleep again
msbelle, have you tried the hormone treatment for that? It has to do with aging and hormone levels affecting her sphincter control. Jetta has that, and I give her one pill a week of something called Diethylstilbestrol.
Consuela, she is on Pronin and it worked for a while.
