askye, it's totally reasonable to be feeling down. Much love to you.
sumi, I haven't used one, but my (young-adult) son is treated at a Children's hospital, and one of his specialists does. It was nice to see his smile through the mask, when we were in the emergency ward a couple of months ago. I remember thinking the plastic was of a better quality than I would have expected -- nice and clear.
Today is Fiona's birthday. I know I see her from time to time in some thread, but can't remember where. I do hope she is having a good day and feels the waves of joyous wishes headed her way.
Tuesday. Has to be better than Monday, right? DH got home last night, so that part is good. Not alert enough yet to know anymore.
Thank you Laura! It's true I don't post much (time zones are not helpful in that regard), but I do lurk here regularly and am very happy to get your wishes. Also I have a coffee walnut cake cooling in the kitchen right now, so: birthday win.
Happy birthday, Fiona!
::Googles coffee walnut cake to see if it is like I imagine::
Ooh, that sounds good!
Yum! Enjoy what is left of your special day, and of course, the year to come. How are things going with you and yours?
Things are OK, thank you for asking! Mr. Fiona and I are a bit overworked, but that's par for the course (speaking of which, Mr. Fiona is playing a lot of golf). I'm still mostly teaching online but one of my classes is in person again this semester, thank goodness. Real live students, in the flesh!
B. finally got his ass in gear and has started a Zoology degree at the University of Bristol. C. did not get along with online learning during the Covid year At. All. and is repeating her previous grade year at a different school. I think she's finding the switch quite hard, but that's to be expected and it's still quite early days. Her parents are convinced it's the right choice for her.
Oh, and we've had two guinea pigs for about six months, and should be getting some garden chickens soon.
We've been requiring vax cards to eat indoors or go to movies for a while now.
NYC does this too, at all theaters and most restaurants.
I’m sorry Fiona are you saying one of your children is old enough to be in COLLEGE?!? That can’t be right.
Oh, B. will be twenty in a couple of months. Hard to believe, but true.
