Small towns! Brendon was bummed because he has been putting in mileage every day but the weather has been nasty and rainy. There is a local tiny gym in Old Forge so he called the number. They are closed, but the owner answered the phone, said he was out of town but to text him when he was there and he would let him know how to get in and use the equipment. Doesn't know him. Never been there. Guess I'll have to get a summer membership next year. Talk about goodwill.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Pixie accomplished! I feel so much lighter. Now I have a pile of headbands, barrettes, and hair elastics to find a home for.

(In other news I'm trying to make the de-DRM process for Calibre work and I can't find the old version of Kindle for Mac I need. Bah.)

I had that problem too Suela and haven’t figured out how to fix it. I was hoping the developer would make it work with a more recent version again.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Went to a Pumpkin Festival at a semi-nearby orchard. Ended up with tickets for 4 pm since that’s what was available. It was kind of cold and windy, but Mr. S seemed to enjoy what he did (big slides, bounce pad, hayride and corn pit) and we ended up with a bigger pumpkin than we would have liked.

Thrive to spite them

I visited with my aunt today and saw my grandma. She's so frail looking. According to my aunt she hasn't been drinking anything , although she did have some ensure while I was there. I had been hoping that Grandma would be aware I was there but she wasn't. I held her hand and my aunt and I talked some and then we went back to the living room.

I have been worried that my aunt has been so wrapped up in being a caretaker that when Grandma does die it will be hard for her to have the freedom etc. But she has plans for the "next phase" of her life and told me about her plans to renovate her place and get new furniture and to hopefully be able to travel . She was happy and upbeat about it. She wouldn't be doing this alone she has a ...special man in her life.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

That's good she's prepared. I couldn't allow myself to think of my mom's death so I was a little unprepared. The guilt I felt at enjoying my sudden freedom was unexpected.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Good for her. It a lot to Care for another. Glad she has plans and will also care for herself.

I'm watching a new (to me) procedural out of Australia (Halifax: Retribution on PBS) and one of the main characters has a late teen-early twenties daughter who looks so much like Matilda it's messing with my head.

I'm glad you got to see your grandmother, askye. It is good that your aunt is looking forward. One of the biggest grief issues for caregivers is the feeling of not being needed anymore and preparing for that is huge.

Is it wrong that when I heard about the death of General Powell that my first thought was at least I didn't have to hear nothing except Senators Manchin and Sinema news for a day?
