Fred, that's a lot. I'm grateful you've found your way through to where you are, and that you're making choices mindfully, and continue to work toward health, both mental and physical. All best thoughts that things work out well for you--and the cats.
askye, I am awed and impressed by all you've achieved. You've always been beloved among Buffistas I've known (and actually met!). I'm glad you're finding that self-knowledge and self-love now, too.
Thanks for the thoughts. When things calm down a bit, I'm going to take a vacation. I'm thinking Vermont in May or June -- it's the only state east of the Mississippi River that I've never been in.

askye and Fred, I can only echo the wise words above. It hasn't been an easy path but you've both made your way on your own terms.

This year started for me on safari in Tanzania, followed by climbing one of the 7 summits with much of my family. It's been a year of establishing new routines in light of my father and BIL's deaths. I haven't been as good a friend as I would like to be, and I have not built much in the way of new relationships: most of my emotional energy has been dedicated to family, and to supporting my sister.
I would like for that to change.
But it hasn't been a bad year; my health is good, the dog's health is good after a cancer scare last spring, the rest of the family is doing well. I think I need to identify some long-term goals, and that's something to work on.
Thinking of you Fred, you've been carrying a big load. Some unwind time is definitely in order.
