Marco: Do we look reasonable to you? Mal: Well. Looks can be deceiving. Jayne: Not as deceiving as a low down dirty... deceiver.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

When he went to check he found step-dad unable to get up from his chair, but refusing to let him call 911 because they would sound the fire whistle and everyone in town would know his business. He called one of the volunteer EMS people who came over without the whistle and called the ambulance. He is super frail, but there really isn't much that can be done with stubborn old folk.

My mother was much better about letting me call for help once someone advised us we could call 911 and ask specifically for fall assistance and they would come without the sirens to help me get her up. I don't know whether that's a local thing, but might be something to find out about for your stubborn old folk.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

DH along with my nephew and great-nephew went out for 6 hours on Lake Ontario and caught several very large salmon. Like 22"- 30" type large. They gave a bunch to my niece who lives in Oswego and split the rest. The 3 bags I brought home last night weighed about 15 pounds. So yeah, lots of portions.

WOW.

I will never forget when I was a kid and my grandmother called for fall assistance with my grandfather, and I went to answer the door, and it's a good thing, because the firefighters had their axe out! So maybe no sirens, but they were definitely prepared to bust into the house to help.

Because books.

Fresh fish is so yum. When we lived in Florida we had a neighbor who brought us fresh pompano and dolphin all the time (not that kind of dolphin).

In personal cooking news, I just realized I don't have a box grater. How is that possible?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Do you need one? I have a set of flat graters with little rubber feet that work much better than any box grater I ever owned.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I had what I think was a good interview, y'all. Contract, but full-time by the end of the year if it works out. Fingers crossed that it does, and that they are not secretly terrible people.

Fingers crossed Sana!

I used to have a flat grater and I don't know what happened to it—I realized recently I only have a microplane grater which is not useful for some things.
