Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jess that sucks about the kiddo but yay not having to treat it yourself?

Yeah, I remember lice -- pretty sure my mother would have found someone to pay to deal it if she could have!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

On the other hand, SO MUCH EMOTING OMGSTOP YOU ARE TWELVE YOUR REAL PROBLEMS HAVE NOT YET EVEN STARTED YOUNG MAN.

Yeah, Emmett had some sudden surprising emotional meltdowns as he hit Middle School. I felt like secret emotional doors had been unlocked by the magic of hormones.

Because San Francisco's sandy soil is particularly conducive lice is just one of those things you have to factor into parenting around here. Both Emmett and Matilda had it twice growing up.

When I was growing it had a real stigma to it, but out here it just elicits a pain-in-the-ass shrug.

Our wings are not tired.

Ah yes, I remember those lice combs well. Fun times.

I am in Otter Lake! And back on line! Got up early this morning and set up my work phone and computer environment and am ready to go.

Camp is in okay shape except for a burst pipe from winter that will have to be dealt with before I have running water. So I have the full camp experience with walking out to my pump to fill buckets with water to flush. Oh well, could be worse. I kept pointing to the thermometer last night in excitement because it was in the 50s. Woo!

Three days on the road with DH hauling the boat and the dog, and me stopping a bunch of times to charge. I love my car more than ever because autopilot is the bestest thing ever for long trips. Hands free singing along with streaming Broadway tunes, ahhh. DH did not have as much fun with multiple trailer issues. But we made it here at the same time despite differing routes.

Highlight of the trip was breakfast with Maria in PA and meeting her SO. Traveling with vehicles filled with stuff, and towing, and Skinner makes it easier said than done to arrange F2F visits.

I am back at work. That seems less fun than being in Otter Lake, even with working there!

I am not at work, but recovering from our eight hour roundtrip taking Matilda to camp, plus the end of this grotty cold that gave me pink eye.

However, the gunkus seems to be coming up and out, and my eye was merely gummy instead of crusty this morning so I think I'm at the end of it.

I'm trending the right direction anyway.

Ugh, pink eye is terrible! The last time I had it, I got it accompanying my friend's children to the doctor. They did not have pink eye, but I'm sure I picked it up in the office!

It fucking is! Anyway, it's markedly better this morning so I'm hoping I wake up tomorrow with clear sclera.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My uncle is having surgery today. Any~ma would be much appreciated.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Much surgery~ma to your uncle, sj.

Pink eye sucks. I managed to make it 51 years without having it, only to succumb this past spring.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Surgery~ma

I have running water and do not have pink eye, so I guess I am ahead of the game this morning. I am at work, which seems to be neutral?
