Early: Where'd she go? Simon: I can't keep track of her when she's not incorporeally possessing a space ship. Don't look at me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Phew.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to meet friends for fireworks. It would be fun, but fun enough to deal with getting home after? I think no.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I went to a neighbor's for grilled hotdogs and fixings. I brought a blueberry pie that turned out reasonably well. Later, I could hear but not see the town fireworks. Today I'm working from home. The cat's gonna be sick of me by Monday, but I'm enjoying this whole "no commute" thing.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

3-hour car trip today. Wish me luck.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Good luck, Dana!

My birthday redo (because the museum with a tantruming ltc has proved to be no fun) is Spider-Man Far From Home and Indian food tonight. Right now ltc is at the beach with Mom and Stepdad, and I'm catching up on my magazine reading.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Good luck, Dana!

That sounds nice, sj

I am at work, somewhat against my better judgment. Actually feel better than I have in a few days, though, we'll see if that lasts. Hardly anyone is here, the quiet is edging over into eerie territory.

Ann, that's a ferret.

-t, days like that can be some of my favorite days to work -- easy commute, chance to get things done. But I have a radio on my desk to help cut the eerie factor.

It's great for getting things done!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I arrived at the office to the sound of LOUD music playing ... I checked and it was an early arrival who thought he'd be alone in our section of the office.

Turns out he deserves a good deal of leniency (loud music is generally frowned upon in our open office) but it seems that yesterday he - and another driver - spotted a drunk driver on the highway, got the drunk to pull over then parked in front and behind him. When the drunk got out of his car to yell at the other driver, the car rolled back and hit my co-worker's car. The police were appreciative, since the drunk would probably have caused a serious accident if left to go on, but the co-worker had to get a police report verifying that he hadn't hit the drunk from the rear. A trip that he expected to have him home around 7:00 ended up with him not arriving until about 11:00 ... so he's kind of tired.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

So far, worst it's been is MIL calling accessible tables "for crippled." But there's two hours to go.
