Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I introduced one of my other friends to the church friends, and they ended up walking away together and making plans to get together again! Which I think is hilarious and also a good sign. The original friend is someone I met through someone else anyway, so it's just one big chain.

Our wings are not tired.

That's nice, Jesse. Shows you understand your friends' taste in friends!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That's great, Shir!

I'm in full "hide from the evil orb" mode. I don't know how people in European countries, where they're not used to this insane heat nonsense, are coping. Last night I had to pick up a friend who'd dared to walk around outside for a while and ended up surrounded by emergency services personnel helping her rehydrate. This has been my annual "hot weather sucks" post. Thank you for your attention.

In other news, I'm in a full on David Tennant rewatch frenzy after Good Omens. Broad church really holds up to a rewatch. Several of the performances are outstanding.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Thank you, all!

I'm in full "hide from the evil orb" mode.

How bad is it there? A Mediterranean who is starting to complain at 97F asking.

It's been in the mid- to upper-90sF for the past week and likely to remain the same for much of the week to come. I tend to wilt in anything over 80.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

That is indeed difficult. We're doing the "from one A/C to another" here and waiting until the great orb in the sky will go and bother other countries. Also, ice-everything (in drinks).

Our wings are not tired.

Yes, also melting here. I just got back from a quick trip to the grocery store. No shady places available in the parking lot. This may have influenced my decision to buy watermelon.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My cousin had the cutest little baby girl today! Unfortunately they're all the way in SF. So, I won't get to meet the baby until September. ltc stares at the babies pictures for an hour this morning, and declared that she is her baby. She also asked where the baby's mother was, and when I told her that the baby has two daddies she cheerfully replied, "Oh!" and that was the end of that conversation.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Who has two thumbs and got accepted into the grad school of her choice and got good news about her mother's health condition (AKA, Not Cancer)? This MPA honors-program girl with a healthy-to-her-age-with-existing-conditions mom!

Congratulations, Shir! That's well more than doubly wonderful!

What is even happening?

Shir it's so nice to read your good news. Congrats on grad school and YAY to having a healthy mom!

Sj, that's such a cute conversation with ltc.

msbelle, if you happen by, I'm wondering -- do you know what funding threshold Hegar has to meet?
