I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Woke up, husband is gone. Maybe he went to the store? Maybe he left a note? Maybe I could call him? I could maybe find out those things if I got up from the couch.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I finally used my instant pot, which I have owned forever! I just made rice, and it was so easy. The only problem is that it came out like sticky rice and TCG prefers fluffy rice.

Okay, I guess he has gone up to sleep, which makes sense, considering I probably woke him up several times last night.

hivemind ? - a friend's daughter is off to college in the fall and they just made a post on FB that she is wanting to RUSH in the fall and would like letters of recommendation for sororities and then listed like a dozen.

Don't you usually wait to see what the houses are like on a campus before deciding to RUSH?

This seems ass backwards.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

At my college, sorority rush was always the week before classes started in August. The idea was that rush week is how you get to know the sororities. (At Miami, there were like 4 rounds of rush, so in theory that was enough time to get an idea of what the sororities are like.)

Your idea makes more sense, though. Greek rush should be later into the first semester, or even the beginning of the second semester.

brillig

At my school there was a general extracurricular festival the first week of the year, with the clubs and greek groups. You chatted with the greeks, then did rush later for those you were interested in.

oh huh, well there you go.

I also thought some schools did not let people rush until second year.

At the University of Georgia sorority rush was the week before school started. But then, a lot of students arrived on campus knowing what they wanted, because of family members or older friends.

At Duke it was the start of second semester.

Hilariously, the one fraternity I looked into during rush turned out to be the university's Animal House equivalent. Let's just say there was a bit of a mismatch.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We had fraternity rush in the fall, but sororities didn't do it until second semester.

You guys, I've been meaning to buy some of that double-stick tape because my cat is tearing up my furniture, but then PetCo sent me a coupon for $30 off $100, no food included, so now I'm getting All The Cat Stuff delivered to my house. Because I couldn't bring myself to buy an enormous tower, I'm getting several other ridiculous items.
