My office got an email from HR at 10:30 suggesting that people might be late because of the subway, and that people who are late should be in touch with their managers. Was it too late to be at all useful? You can be the judge.
Which relevant to Jesse's post above, I didn't catch any of the surge fares that must have overflowed like liquid cash to Lyft drivers when the subway is down and the rain is falling. (Of course, I was also out of the traffic, too.)
I'm sorry you missed out on the $$$$!
Matt, I hope you get to give the status explanation by pantomime! Or Pictionary, which would be altogether fitting.
I went out at 10, which incredibly meant STILL AWFUL traffic. Individually Boston could theoretically handle heavy rain OR a major subway derailment, but not both at the same time. Sheesh Louise.
I also saw a bumper sticker that read SOMETIMES I STRUGGLE WITH MY DEMONS, BUT SOMETIMES WE SNUGGLE.

And not right at rush hour! They had to close the highway (briefly) at like 8am to get to the derailed train! What a mess.
Things are a bit more relaxed here. It is not at all unusual to be late because it was raining, because who would go out in that. It drives people crazy when they first get here. Not as bad as 'Island Time', but a much looser concept of being on time.

I can't stop reading Good Omens fic, so that made me snort with laughter.

I had a pint of coffee ice cream for breakfast, which is not the smartest breakfast I ever had, but I had my reasons and figured I could have an early and more reasonable lunch. Of course, I got busy catching up on work from my couple of days being out, and left it too late to go out and pick up lunch before my last 3 hour session of this course so I was resigned to the vending machine. Which ate my $2 and gave me nothing. I was able to get a refund from facilities and tried a difference vending machine so now I have a bag of Cheetos and a Diet Dr Pepper to see me through to 4pm. I guess I should be grateful that Flamin' Hot Cheetos were not the only option.

Sorry to everyone who's having problems. I was happy to sleep in my bed last night, complete with air conditioning we could control. I woke up around 3AM, read for a little bit, and went back to sleep until 8.

Yell and misbehave like a proper American tourist!
It's about to storm here, which is nice. I like rain. I've blown through several books in the past week, which is awesome, but has an undesired result. My eyes are taking a super long time to adjust to normal distances after reading. So I can't just read a bit, then do work on my computer, back and forth. Don't know when my eyes decided to be less cooperative. This getting old thing is stupid.
Timelies all!
They've been doing repairs on the garage I normally use at work the last couple weeks. That involves closing off parts of a couple levels, leading to the garage filling up earlier. Sometimes I get there and can do stacked parking. Other days, like today, I end up in the garage a couple blocks away. A bit annoying.
