Huh. Kinda reminds me of when my sister got married and the county clerk or whoever it was who actually gave them the license said something about how if they got divorced my sister would have to go through a whole process to change her name back, it wasn't automatic, and my sister confused and upset because (a) why even bring up if you get divorced when you are getting a marriage license? Come on and b) she wasn't changing her name but this conversation had her scared that it would be changed for her.
YIKES on both those fronts!
Oh my god. I am not kidding. Dude on Facebook just commented again and said "I called the BMV, and the field rep said if a married woman hasn't changed her name on any legal documents, she can get a Real ID using her maiden name."
WHAT. WHY. Why would you, a guy, call a BMV to ask about that? And why didn't you just let it go when I said I wasn't worried???
I probably shouldn't even have replied, but instead I said "Uh, yeah. That's what I figured. Like I said above, more than once."
I assume he's going to get pissy because I didn't thank him.
Thanks, Gud. DoorDash can bring me that!
Anecdote disclaimers: they did eventually get divorced, my sister's name was not automatically changed wither when they got married or when they got divorced, she did change her name but not to her (now ex) husband's name.
OMG THAT GUY!
Are you good friends? Should I not talk smack about him?
By "maiden name," he means HER NAME, right?? I think he might be freaked out because you have your husband's name on FB, and isn't that the final legal arbiter of what your name is?
(Let me check that with my cousin "Sheikh Yurbooti"....)
Are you good friends?
Nope. It's the slightly awkward scenario where he thinks we're better friends than we are.
Should I not talk smack about him?
Talk ALL the smack about him that you want!
I think he might be freaked out because you have your husband's name on FB, and isn't that the final legal arbiter of what your name is?
Ha! Could be.
(Let me check that with my cousin "Sheikh Yurbooti"....)
Oooh. When I legally change my name, THAT'S what I'ma change it to!
So Matthew and I took a break from rearranging the house for when his mother moves in and went for a nice lunch.
Where our order seems to have been forgotten. I did go and ask and get a cookie which is tasty but we ordered 2 sandwiches and it's getting close to 20 mins with no food. The next step is asking for a refund and going some place emse
Oooh. When I legally change my name, THAT'S what I'ma change it to!
It is actually available, because (don't tell) that is not his legal name!
