What's a good toy for a 1-year-old? Great-nephew has a birthday party tomorrow, and we asked the parents what he needs, and they said "he likes toys...and the boxes that toys come in." Mmmmmkay. I have no idea what to get a 1-year-old, though!
My plan is to go to Target and read the age recommendations on the toy packages and just pick one, BUT if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great, too.

It is literally impossible to know what kids will want to play with at that age. But if he's walking or close to walking, any kind of push toy (like this) is a good bet. Plan or Melissa & Doug are both brands that make mostly wood toys if you or the parents are plastic-avoidant.

A lot of credit cards will give you some money in this situation if you bought the ticket on the card, for essentials while you wait. Worth looking into especially if it takes longer than tonight.
