Also, today was a really good day. I haven't had one in a while & it feels really good. I think restarting my swims with outdoors at Druid might be just the reset I needed. And I have 2 more mornings with the holiday!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh that's great to read, sarameg!

Not so great, Zen. I think I would go to urgent care or something, soft contact lenses seem wily and prone to hiding and causing trouble to my inexperienced but paranoid mind. I hope you've already found the other half.

Take care of yourself, Gud, that sounds miserable.

brillig

Found a lovely new BBC show, "Shakespeare & Hathaway - Private Investigators", modern day. Your fairly standard detective show, but the detectives are competent, the police contact recognizes the competence but still holds the procedural line. Hathaway is a slovenly guy but is very sharp, Shakespeare is a woman who was cleared of murder by Hathaway and joined the detective agency and is quite intelligent and good with people. Bastian is their nearly-flaming office boy/actor on the side. It's all set in Stratford on Avon, so lots of medievally ambiance and Shakespeare references and some complaining about tourists. I'm only three episodes in, but we're looking at Midsomer Murder-twisty plots.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think I'm officially really part of this crew, not just someone who swims with them.

That's awesome.

Yikes, Zen! I hope your eyeball is OK.

Our wings are not tired.

That is so nice to hear, sarameg. Yay for swimming again!

Yikes, Zen. I had issues with lost lenses a number of times. Keep it flooded and try not to irritate it too much searching.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My eye feels better this morning; maybe I just irritated it poking around. Thursday I see the eye doctor anyway, so he can check then. I won't try to wear contacts until then.

Our wings are not tired.

That sounds better, Zen. It's really hard to tell the difference between having a contact in the eye or just irritation.

Repeating my tag line over and over rather than continuing to engage with my bat-shit crazy SIL over Trump. Particularly since I will likely see her at Aunt's memorial later today. She generally finds an excuse not to attend family events, so here's hoping. However, since she is a self declared minister she will likely want to pray at us during the event. It would not be a surprise if she invokes Trump's name in her prayers.

Getting it out of my system here! I really don't get how a black immigrant woman, who claims to be devoted to Christianity, can support the piece of racist garbage in the White House. Fortunately a number of her Haitian friends are beating her up about her post so I don't have to say anything more than I already did. She spouted that she would never vote for a Democrat for president. I responded that I would choose my candidates not by the label of their party but by the content of their character, to paraphrase Dr. King.

As I said, I have stepped away, but am grateful that her friends are pounding her.

eta: I was curious as to whether she was even registered to vote, and she is, as a Democrat. Ha!. I get that a number of Haitians have Clinton issues, but I still don't see how immigrants can support Trump, ever.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's harder when the crazy is coming from within your own family.

Our wings are not tired.

She was at the memorial and totally well behaved. No political stuff at all. Just hugs and proper social behavior. I was impressed.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Ugh. I've spent the last few days throwing up and then recovering. The last time I threw up so hard I pulled a muscle. I feel a bit better today. There was a Librarians marathon yesterday, which is exactly what you want when you're having trouble getting off the sofa.
