Mal: You tell me right now, little Kaylee, you really think you can do this? Kaylee: Sure. Yeah. I think so. 'Sides, if I mess up, not like you'll be able to yell at me.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

It is 41 degrees and raining. I would like to speak to a manager.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Congrats to the sitter, and may your search for another yeild fruit quickly, sj.

Oh, Steph. It just hurts.

I'm looking forward to the "after" pics, msbelle.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I saw an article that a number of senior citizens are volunteering to do clean-up at Fukushima ... they're figuring that they're old enough that they'll die of natural causes before the radiation exposure gets to them. um ... kind of a good news/bad news all in one ....

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

As Dana notes, rainy and cold (for Texas) here. I want to curl into bed. Alas I'm at work and everyone else has "gone to lunch" "run out for an errand" and I am here alone WITH NO MOTIVATION TO WORK!!!!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Our wings are not tired.

"Just create a style guide that everyone adheres to."

Not even a tech writer and I snorted when I read that.

In other news, I went to the club last night! With Laura and Brendon! And stayed up past 2! And slept until 9! All in all, a successful night.

So much fun! I am generally in bed by 10 so way late for me. Had to get up early for gourmet breakfast at the B&B too, but all worth it. Nice that your friend was a Stevie B fan. I'd never heard of him but apparently he and Ricki have been friends for 30 years.

Also a person on the internet apologized to me!

Shiny! (I've decided this is my standard positive response for this incarnation of Natter)

My sitter just gave notice because she got a fancy promotion at her other job.

Oh yuck! I know how hard it is to find a good sitter. I hope you find someone quickly. eta: and just read she couldn't come today. I'm so sorry. Kids just don't understand or like changes much. (not that adults do either)

Whirlwind weekend summary. DH drove up from Florida and had fun with his sister in Atlantic City. I took the train from Otter Lake to Manhattan (relaxing fall leaf viewing) and he picked me up mid-day Friday. We drove to Bristol RI and stayed with an old friend. Brendon met up with one of our basketball kids by himself because he was living in his car and needed one on one time. We've talked to him several times since Friday and now he is staying with a friend. He was grateful for the extra parental love. Went to head out to Boston on Saturday morning and the truck was giving 'low fuel pressure' warnings and wouldn't let us go more than 20 mph. Borrowed my friend's car since we couldn't deal with it on the weekend with limited time. Drove to B&B, got cleaned up and then met childhood friend of DH's to get tickets to his show. The only time I had seen him 'perform' was at DH's aunt's 70th birthday party where he volunteered to DJ. Met Jesse and friend at Wonderland Ballroom at around 9 and found out friend wasn't going on stage until 11! Stood around people watching until Brendon found the owner of the club, who directed us to friend's girlfriend, who in turn invited us to the VIP deck so we wouldn't have to stand around. Got back to B&B at 2AM because I just couldn't do after party with Ricki (seriously people, I old). Got up at 7 and had luscious b'fast and stimulating conversation with other couple at B&B. Relaxed some then went to brunch with sj and family, Theodosia, Victor and Lea, vw and family, and Jars and family! The children decorated pumpkins and were an absolute delight. I left filled with the warmth of Buffista love and so grateful that we were able to see so many of you. Drove back to RI, the truck fix ended up being super easy to replace fuel filters. Got to Otter Lake around midnight last night.

I expect to be heading back to Florida next weekend because it is supposed to SNOW here Thursday and after seeing how Zoe reacts to that we will go back to the tropics. I am such a bad parent, but I know her reaction is going to be hysterical and I want Zoe in the snow pictures.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

"Just create a style guide that everyone adheres to."

The face I am making, you guys. That is a statement that is right up there with "Everyone will help create and update a terminology list!"

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Right? Like, I'm a big fan of style guides, and I'm happy to bitch about people who argue with me about them, but you might as well wish for a self-cleaning house.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It's Monday. 'nuf said.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

The face I am making, you guys. That is a statement that is right up there with "Everyone will help create and update a terminology list!"

Oh man, Biyi is involved in something much like one of those at the moment. She and some other interpreters are trying to create a glossary of legal terms and good Chinese translations thereof. The drama involved! The (mole)hills people choose to die on! Oh, and the snide passive-aggressiveness, that one's always fun.
