The woman who delivered my groceries was very pleased with my Irish accent. When I first moved to Utah 35 years ago, many people did think I had a British accent, but I thought I'd lost that. Perhaps the recently arrived black woman from New Jersey could still hear it. She was wearing a beautiful African-style headcloth and dress, but she moved too fast for me to be able to tell her I thought it was lovely. Plus I was still confused at being considered Irish. Maybe I need to stop watching so many "Irish People Try" videos.
