I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Apparently the bit about the replacement trees being regrown at Versailles is not true. It's really fucking hard to believe anything when the internet exists.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It does have some basis in fact, though. Just not for Notre Dame.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

It's really fucking hard to believe anything when the internet exists.

I've been allergic to "huge if true" tweets for a long while now (especially from reporters. It's your job, FFS, verify it), so for Notre Dame I verify everything with at least one trust worthy newspaper and an official French account (reporters from another newspapers/authorities/etc.). Don't you mess with my hope, internet people.

Our wings are not tired.

Some baby~ma would be appreciated. It is for the granddaughter of the aunt I mentioned passed a week or so ago. A few days after Aunt Nancy passed her DIL went into labor with her 5th child. She was a bit over 36 weeks and we weren't surprised with the heavy emotions of losing her MIL who had lived with them for probably 10 years or more taking care of her grandchildren. The baby was over 6 pounds and we thought all was well, then she developed breathing issues and ended up in NICU with a breathing tube. This morning they transported her to the Children's hospital in Miami. Anyway, our aunt only had the one son and the family is suffering so much from her loss that they don't need more. So, thoughts for that whole Holt family appreciated.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man -- best thoughts to all of you!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Health~ma to the baby, Laura.

Got back last night, after another terrible drive. Mr. S kept throwing things at us in the front seat, to the point that Gary ended up yelling at him. So of course, once we got home he wouldn't go to sleep until late.

Did I mention that my parents are arriving on Thursday?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

only half-joking Sheryl, have you considered cage training? Or maybe one of those taxi-style plexiglass dividers between front and back seats?

Laura, I'm so very sorry to hear more bad news for your people.

Rosemary is coming HOME on Thursday! I need to finish moving more furniture around to make sure there are extra-clear spaces around obstacles like walls and tables. She'll have a walker (!!!) for the downstairs for a couple weeks yet, although it's mostly going to be supplemental (I hope).

And there's a bunch of other things coming home with her, like a hospital-style toilet seat extender/heightener (there must be a formal term for that) with arms so she can lever herself up and down.

I can already feel myself sliding from feeling odd that there's no one else around, to feeling apprehensive that she WILL be around.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Husband tried to order a club sandwich at a restaurant this afternoon. It came, and we were taking the tomato off some of it so I could eat it. Then, looking at it, Husband said, "...where is the meat?"

They had brought out a club consisting of bread, lettuce and cheese.

Took forever for them to bring out a replacement, but they did. Definitely had meat. Only meat. No lettuce, no cheese. It was a Mirrorverse club.

They got it right on the third try, but the manager admitted that there's a communication barrier, and when things are busy, he has to stand at the window and make sure the food is right. He didn't comp or discount it either, which I didn't appreciate.

Dude. Hire someone who speaks better English, or you learn better Spanish, or figure something out. A club sandwich is not complicated.
