Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I'm glad to hear that the windows of Notre Dame are all right (I don't know French, but I understood enough of Dana's post to get the basic info). I'm glad that whatever they saved is saved. It does sound like it was an accident ... whenever I hear of something historic being destroyed on purpose, it makes me sick. Accidents, while upsetting aren't quite as bad as if someone had set the fire on purpose.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hilarious, Jess! I actually drink decaf almost exclusively, but I will keep Death Wish in mind for when I want to see tachyons.

information libertarian

I keep thinking about what it must be like today to be the guy responsible for checking to make sure nothing is on fire before they lay off work in the evening. Even if he did everything right, he still must feel...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Apparently the bit about the replacement trees being regrown at Versailles is not true. It's really fucking hard to believe anything when the internet exists.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It does have some basis in fact, though. Just not for Notre Dame.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

It's really fucking hard to believe anything when the internet exists.

I've been allergic to "huge if true" tweets for a long while now (especially from reporters. It's your job, FFS, verify it), so for Notre Dame I verify everything with at least one trust worthy newspaper and an official French account (reporters from another newspapers/authorities/etc.). Don't you mess with my hope, internet people.

Our wings are not tired.

Some baby~ma would be appreciated. It is for the granddaughter of the aunt I mentioned passed a week or so ago. A few days after Aunt Nancy passed her DIL went into labor with her 5th child. She was a bit over 36 weeks and we weren't surprised with the heavy emotions of losing her MIL who had lived with them for probably 10 years or more taking care of her grandchildren. The baby was over 6 pounds and we thought all was well, then she developed breathing issues and ended up in NICU with a breathing tube. This morning they transported her to the Children's hospital in Miami. Anyway, our aunt only had the one son and the family is suffering so much from her loss that they don't need more. So, thoughts for that whole Holt family appreciated.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man -- best thoughts to all of you!
