I, for one, wasn't looking forward to starting my day with a slaughter. Which, really, just goes to show how much I've grown

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's not too late! But also, you do what you want!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've got a cat on my lap and a lot of TV to catch up on, so I'm in a pretty good place right now.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm visiting with my sister and have done little work stuff the last couple days. I did swim laps for 45 min yesterday and an hour today! Ran to pick up a thermometer to see how frigid my sister's pool is, and 74!! You may not think that is cold, but generally I want my pool to be 80. I'm telling myself I burned lots of calories with my body trying to keep warm. My NY sister opted for soaking up the sun, but I am not good at the whole lounging thing.

My DIL has talked my son into doing 5K events with her. This is a good thing. I may join them. Also they told me a couple days ago that it won't be too long before they do the baby making thing. They brought it up; I am not that mom. Anyway, with her EDS her doctor wants her to be finished with pregnancy stuff before she turns 30 and she is 24 now. Not doing this tomorrow, but starting to think more seriously about when because they both want children. She has lost 30 pounds in the past few months, intentionally working with a nutritionist. She is 6 foot tall and just trying to be as healthy as possible before getting pregnant. They are both super responsible and planners. They both feel that DH is going to be the absurdly doting grandparent, and maybe I'll participate. They get that I adore them but babies have never been my thing.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

One of the other girls at F's school told F that she is not her best friend. I wasn't prepared to deal with this type of thing yet.

What is even happening?

I for one welcome our new shrift overlord. Sign me up!

Seconded. Could you temporarily relax Australia's immigration laws for a select group of "consultants," shrift?

There's a former MP in New Zealand with your first name, who is married to someone with your last name.

I'm sorry, but shrift's name should just be shrift, like Cher, but with no upper-case letter.

This reminds me, yesterday, I saw someone on Twitter suggest that when you forget someone's name and don't want to ask it, you can ask them, "Have you ever thought of adding an 'ita' to your name?"

That, of course, made me start imagining how that conversation would have ended for a forgetful person who tried it on ita. Pinkies were involved.

flea, I'm glad Casper squeaked by with a passing grade and that you can go to your concert without that hanging over you.

That's exciting, Laura. I wish them the best.

But just wait until the babies turn into PITA teens! You will be right there to shape them up!! I mean, I imagine.

Our wings are not tired.

sj, that is so hard. I still feel my kid's pain worse than my own.

Jesse, I have always been pretty good with teens. I enjoy then and find them fascinating in many ways. I will absolutely be the gram that the teens come to when they need to complain about their parents. And yeah, let them know the facts of their status as kids.

Our wings are not tired.

And Mueller has submitted his report to the AG. Let the weekend of conjecture commence.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm afraid it's all going to be a thundering letdown. I'd really like to at least get some of Trump's kids in prison.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm going to call the local post office tomorrow, and if they don't know where the package is, then I call Powell's. (Yes, it's a big book order, and I'm annoyed by the delay.)
