I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

This fucking day, calloo, callay

Healthcare is annoying, it's true. Unrelated to the above. For me, at least.

Our wings are not tired.

Ah, Monday after a cruelly shortened by an hour weekend.

Yes, healthcare is very annoying.

In Laura News: I have new neighbors from Canada and so far they have been very nice neighbors, as in we say hey and wave when we see each other but otherwise pretty unaware they exist. Well, they have a fancy sound system in their outdoor pool area, and being new Florida residents from Canada they naturally spend a lot of time outside. I only hear the music when I am outside, or in my back bedroom and bath where I always leave the windows open (until it gets too hot). I think I have heard Opera, R&B, Rock, Country, and just now they are playing some island type music. It is just a delight. I never know what to expect. If it is ever too loud or too late I will enforce my personal rule that if you are sharing your music so loud I can hear, you clearly wanted me to come over and party with you. So far that hasn't been the case.

I don't necessarily mind losing an hour per se, I rarely know what time it is unless I have to, but going from driving to work in the dark in December to a gradually lightening sky early in the year to after the sun comes up only to be cruelly plunged back into darkness in March sucks dead goats.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

So sitting on the dead goats bench with -t. I hated going to work and going home in the dark of non-DST. I'd plump for all-DST, alla time if I had a vote.

meara! How was the Samin Nosrat? Did she cook? Tell us (well, tell me, at least)! She's a hero of mine, ITYW. I mean I've never been a foodie, but the joy with which she approaches food and the people who grow it, and the people who prepare it...it has helped me to relax around that whole process. Which is a big thing in my world.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Last night we got a babysitter and went to see Beth Patterson in concert. Fun, as always.

What is even happening?

Do we have a group log-in for the Wall Street Journal?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Did everyone already know that Tataouine is a real place?? (If you spell it that way.) It's in Tunisia, and they filmed Star Wars there.

Florida did vote for it, but the feds haven't approved it yet. That would mean we are out of sync with the rest of the east coast half the year, but I'd prefer that the the time change foolishness.

I did not, Jesse. Cool!

I can't decide if this makes the Calamari better or worse

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've seen a number of places advocating for DST year-around ... changing the clocks (most of mine do NOT automatically update) is a pain. I saw one person, from a childcare center, saying that in the fall the kids get upset because it's dark outside and their parents haven't picked them up yet. I'd go for it, except in a few years I'd bet someone would come up with the bright idea of moving the clocks ahead an hour for the summer, forgetting/ignoring that we did that already.
