Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am having the most parallel kind of day -- I just talked to someone who reports to me about the difficult relationship she has with someone where they basically got off on the wrong foot and now my report thinks the other person thinks she doesn't know what she's doing, when I had to have my meeting with my version of that person earlier! (Although I know for sure that my version thinks I'm incompetent. But fuck her.)

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The happiest things I'm reading right now are the Iditarod reports, which include the likely fact that a woman will win for the first time since Susan Butcher in the early 90s.

Librarian Warlord

likely fact that a woman will win

still so many miles to go (and a 24 hour rest she needs to take)!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Steph, well there was the story about the man in Germany who had something injected into his bone marrow (? not sure of the details and I'm too lazy to look it up) that seems to have cured his HIV. So that's good news.

I guess they love me yelling my questions at them and calling each other 50 million times a day on the phone

You know, somewhere, there's a photo of some Buffistas at a table all online communicating with each other on their computers. Just sayin'

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Anne's dining room, for one, and Lee's living room, for another. I remember those!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I remember a photo from SF2F that meets that description!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh thank god, my boss agrees that the person vexing me can fuck off.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

It was a full bone marrow transplant that has removed signs of HIV from a patient. Great news, but not a large scale option for treatment.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S is having a friend from school over for a playdate on Saturday. We need to clean a lot of things in the next few days.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The guy was being treated for Hodgkin's, which involved killing off his immune system and replacing it with new blood marrow -- and the donor had genes known to protect against HIV. So in order to get cured, he had to be nearly killed.

Here's a WashPost story that covers it much better than I can: [link]
