Now that we are in Brazil we have somebody come once a week (which feels crazy but that's the schedule she requested and it's affordable so...). We had somebody every two weeks in Nashville. Much like meara, we do/did a ton of tidying in between (three kids means every day is a tornado) but sporadic actual cleaning and only when it was obviously gross. We did get a robot vacuum which helps manage the day to day popcorn spills before the cleaners come.

Timelies all!
I'm sorry about Joey, Fred.
We seem to have a fairly even distribution of household tasks here. (Not that we're the tidiest of people, but major stuff gets done.)
Chris, cause I am thinking if I could be of help if you need to pack up fast.
I'm thinking I really need to get a Roomba. It'll at least keep me from leaving stuff on the floor.
msbelle, it would be totally awesome for you to do that, but let me see what the insurance people recommend, they already said they'd cover moving&cleaning or replacement-
Oh, the guy they recommended just called. We're going to meet tomorrow to get him a look at the apartment so he can get an assessment going.
Man, I take care of dinner every night, I usually do at least a load of dishes every day. I don't start every load of laundry but I put away most loads of laundry. I pay bills, I do taxes, I mow the yard, I take care of the cars, I take out the trash, I take out the recycling, I drive my son to his internship and back home. I do the carpet shampooing. I not great on the vacuuming, but I probably still more than anyone else. I am usually the one who tidies up the kitchen and clears clutter. Then my wife tells me I hardly do anything.
Lot of stress lately as it turns out my son has don't been doing well at school (mostly because of missed assignments and has been lying about it). This isn't the first time, either. My wife says she's done with him, but I'm trying a more 'let me help you achieve your goals' approach. I'm pretty sure one of the reasons he lies when he gets behind is because he's afraid of telling his mom.
Thanks for info, friends! I was just curious, and would probably have someone come once a month and not do much in between (I mean, dishes, and maybe give the bathroom a swipe?).
You are clearly an outlier in current society, Gud. Even you cannot do enough to really shift that average, though.
Sorry about your son. That's kind of an easy trap for a smart kid to fall into when admitting you are behind is scary.
Crap. Car loan may not work out because I just switched jobs. Might have to pay cash instead. I don't really mind, but my wife will be really pissed at me. I can't take this much stress.
pissed at you because of the rules YOU DO NOT CONTROL?!?!?! Well that's her choice. I suggest you pay in cash if needed and then you and the kids go get ice cream and let her sit with her anger alone if that is what she wants.
