Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Someone once did a more or less scientific test/survey and found that Kansas is actually flatter than a pancake. That pretty much exhausts my knowledge of the state.

Also, sadly, Peter Tork has died (of the Monkees). sigh ....

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Kansas is sunflowers as far as I am concerned.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, I like driving through sunflower fields! All of them pointed the same direction so they are one color to the right and a another to the left.

brillig

Eastern Kansas is very hilly and pretty. Then you hit the plains and there's nothing until the Rockies.

Because books.

So I saw an Instagram post from Mark Ruffalo welcoming "Senator Sanders" back into the race and I almost cried. I liked you, Mark. I really did.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I had the same reaction, Amy.

Sunflowers are creepy alien lifeforms--all those faces turning to follow the sun like creepy minions. (shudder)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Beverly, my parents have the same position on sunflowers!

Ugh, I am procrastinating so bad.

Aw, sitting still and turning my face towards the sun is one of my favorite things. I don't do it with a field full of others, though. Mostly.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm editing an article about the changes (read: increases) in gun purchases after mass shootings, and I have to look up the details about every shooting mentioned so I can verify that the article reported it accurately. About 4 pages in, I am super depressed and demoralized. Humans are garbage.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

That is awful depressing, Steph. At least by verifying the information, it makes it harder for those opposed to sensible gun safety to pretend that facts don't matter.

At an earlier point in my life I was for a total gun ban, but as I've gotten older and (I hope?) wiser, I'm more for sensible gun control measures that work to keep them out of the hands of irresponsible people, a la car registration and driving licenses, and insurance.
