Well, that's a wellspring of info about Lawrence, Kansas. I could have added that I've heard lots of stories about family life there because DH's Mom hails from those parts, but the newest are from the Sixties. Probably not helpful or relevant.
I think they grow a lot of corn in Kansas, but that's hardly fun for tourists. It's a big flat place that takes too long to drive through.
Don't expect Lawrence to be flat :)
Iowa is corn. Kansas is wheat!

I feel like I have learned enough for today with that. Thx! Sorry, job.
My son and DIL are in Las Vegas in the falling snow! They've had a very nice birthday trip including a side trip to CA to watch the sunset over the Pacific. They didn't expect they would get to see it snowing too, so they are thrilled. Today they are off to see the Grand Canyon. It is such a joy to see them enjoying themselves so much.
eta: it is only the 4th time Bobby has seen snow.
Wait, so why is the line "I'm as corny as Kansas in August"?? Just alliteration?? Do I need to question everything I've learned from Broadway musicals now????
Just kidding: I learned there were actually Schuyler brothers as well years ago, and have not trusted anything ever since.

My California-born-and-raised cousin who lives in LV now just saw snow falling for the first time ever!

There was definitely some poetic license taken.
I mean, there's definitely corn grown in Kansas, but wheat is what it's known for. That and dubious conservative politicians.
I'm also trying to imagine someone singing "I'm as wheaty as Kansas in August." It's not going well.
