I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

He's so clearly just going on and on, hoping to make it look like he's being super tough even though he's having to cave on the wall. Which was never intended to be a concrete wall from sea to shining sea. Because there are natural borders that have been there for millions of years.

I'm going to guess that the government will quietly stay open in three weeks and we'll move along.

I imagine some businesspeople will come down hard on That Man if he tries to shut it down again. Especially with tax season ramping up.

Hmmm, conjecture he is only doing this 3 week thing so he can give his precious SOTU address.

I think as soon as the airports in NYC shut down he was royally fucked.

But also, of course he also wants to deliver the SOTU from the House, and he knew he had to re-open the government to do that.

I hate him so much.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm going to guess that the government will quietly stay open in three weeks and we'll move along.

There's no way they can shut it down again. The Republican Senators have already started breaking from Trump. The Democratic Caucus held firm and the Republicans crumbled.

The Shutdown dropped Trump down to his lowest approval ratings, which are now sitting in the thirties. Worse he's completely alienated swing vote independents. His base isn't big enough to get him elected without them.

Here's the other thing - John Kelley kept Trump on the rails and kept the WH somewhat functional. Now that he's out we're back to the pure chaos and backstabbery of Trump's early days in office.

I'd say the Republicans shot themselves in the foot on this, but it's more like they shot themselves in the face.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

He threatened to declare a state of emergency in three weeks if he doesn't get his money.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Just a quick little rant, 'cuz I know we're all thinking it...

HOW THE HELL CAN EVEN THIRTY-SOMETHING PERCENT OF PEOPLE STILL APPROVE OF THIS NIGHTMARE OF A "MAN"??? WTH IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???

Thank you, I feel better now.

Our wings are not tired.

Now of course he will be extra offended when the ratings for the SOTU are lower than ever.

Relieved it is ending anyway. No way they will let it get shut down again in 3 weeks unless the entire Republican party just wants to fold up.
