I also didn't notice that there was another earthquake this morning. Huh.

I was out walking the dog, didn't notice it at all.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Oh, Mary Oliver died.

RIP

"Poppies" by Mary Oliver

The poppies send up their

orange flares; swaying

in the wind, their congregations

are a levitation

of bright dust, of thin

and lacy leaves.

There isn't a place

in this world that doesn't

sooner or later drown

in the indigos of darkness,

but now, for a while,

the roughage

shines like a miracle

as it floats about everything

with its yellow hair.

Of course nothing stops the cold,

black, curving blade

from hooking forward-

of course

loss is a great lesson.

But also I say this: that light

is an invitation

to happiness,

and that happiness,

when it's done right,

is a kind of holiness,

palpable and redemptive.

Inside the bright fields,

touched by their rough and spongy gold,

I am washed and washed

in the river

of earthly delight-

and what are you going to do-

what can you do

about it-

deep, blue night?

replacing our demos that got Blown The Fuck Up by the Bomb Squad

If the game gets developed and is a hit, the bomb squad adventure should become part of its story.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm sad about Oliver. Thanks for posting her poems. I lent a volume of her work to a friend recently and now of course I want it back so I can read all those poems. I'll have to be content with her other works on my shelf.

Sorry about headaches and nausea, best of luck to those having testing or other medical encounters, HBD to Laura's elder son, and may the video do its job, David.

I just watched a woman ladle two kinds of soup onto her salad. Like, on top of it. Same bowl. I'm baffled.

Just got back from a job interview. Setting up the next meeting at the end of the interview seems like a good sign.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is a good sign! Your rate of success with interviewing seems super-high.

I just spent a half-hour taking a walk to look at some walls, and I am always surprised at how useful that is! So useful!
