It's not like they had their punk cards revoked and weren't allowed to hang out any more after they broke as a hip-hop group.

That is all true! It's more that Kathleen Hanna would marry a ROCK STAR than a Beastie Boy would be attracted to her. And while the Beastie Boys outgrew their earlier frat-boy anthems and sexism, it still feels incongruous with Queen of the Riot Girls.

And then I google and remember that I just don't know who Joanna Newsome is.

She's a musician known for her complex indie chamber pop (she plays the harp) and her squeaky singing voice (an acquired taste to be sure).
