Also I was thinking like "hmm, if my job is trying to screw mr over maybe I get a new one and have the gap when I was going to be on vacation in June?" And then I realized even if I could swing that with what jobs were available/offered, I would get screwed if I switch health insurance at the middle of the year, paging two deductibles! Hmm. I suppose in theory another job could offer a pay raise that would compensate for that. Maybe.

The Beastie Boys were originally a punk band, and they were thoroughly embedded in the NYC punk scene. It's not like they had their punk cards revoked and weren't allowed to hang out any more after they broke as a hip-hop group.
Every time I see him mentioned with Joanna Newsome, I conflate her with Laraine Newman because I do not know who Joanna Newsome is and I associate him with SNL and Laraine Newman was on SNL. And then I am ALL confused and bothered because she is so much older than him. And then I see pictures and I am more confused because how in the hell does Laraine Newman look that young. And then I google and remember that I just don't know who Joanna Newsome is.

That is all true! It's more that Kathleen Hanna would marry a ROCK STAR than a Beastie Boy would be attracted to her. And while the Beastie Boys outgrew their earlier frat-boy anthems and sexism, it still feels incongruous with Queen of the Riot Girls.

She's a musician known for her complex indie chamber pop (she plays the harp) and her squeaky singing voice (an acquired taste to be sure).
I know who she is now, but I have never heard her stuff as far as I know. And I'll forget by next time, I'm sure.
