Holy shit, Maria! That's ridiculous.

In other news, I'm in this awkward cycle where I'm working directly with a coworker on something, which he thinks is going well, but my boss really wants to talk to his boss about doing it differently, and I feel awkward not saying that to him, but if his boss doesn't agree with my boss, I'm not doing anything. So I'm just stalling.
On the other hand, thank goodness there was candy in the kitchen just now because I hadn't eaten any sugar all day and was starting to get withdrawal.
It's been an interesting day and I can't say why.
I hope that's good, Gud.
Damn, Maria, glad you caught it! And sympathies to everyone caught in fraudulent plastic rectangle hell! I heard something on the news about a new, um, exploit doesn't seem right but I don't know what is - apparently there is code floating around that can harvest your card number and CVV off the website as you legitimately pay for something. The advice for how to guard against it was a big shrug. Sucks.
I need to figure something out for lunch. Which is basically, vending machine or go out and pick something up.

That has to be what happened to mine, because I never lost my physical card. In fact, I used it at Five Guys about 12 hours before the fraudulent charge popped up on my account.
The advice for how to guard against it was a big shrug.
Man, that is some kind of bullshit.

Everything I've learned about credit card fraud lately is that all of our credit card numbers are available online for not very much money, so we're all the aliens waiting for The Claw in Toy Story.
I know some banks will create virtual credit card numbers for one-time use shopping online, so even if some shady individual gets ahold of that number, it's useless to them. Sadly, it looks like my bank does create virtual credit card numbers...only for business accounts. Sheesh.
Steph - Capital One has a browser extension that you can add to Chrome to create/manage virtual credit card numbers. So far it has worked OK for me.
One of the things I do is use one credit card exclusively for online stuff and a different one for in-person. The idea is that they (probably) won't both be compromised at the same time so I will have some kind of plastic available.
We live in complicated times.
I went with a cold sandwich from the vending machine. So unsatisfying, but cheap.
