It seems unfair to start the new year with cramps? But so be it. I slept in, and then laid in bed for almost an hour just because I didn't want to get up. I wanted a magic butler to appear to bring me a heating pad, and coffee. Sadly, one did not appear, so eventually I got up. At some point here I'll have to decide what I want to do today...clean? Cook? Most likely sit around and read more books and be lazy.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My upstairs neighbor has a NY day brunch every year. So I just had to go up a flight of stairs to get hoppin' john, collards, and a bunch of other good food. Now I'm disassembling my tree. Every year I say I need to clear out the ornaments that I don't need, but this year I'm actually doing it. Some. Anyway, there's a Firefly marathon on El Ray, and the weather's warm enough that I can have the windows open. It's a pretty decent start to 2019.

Hope the cramps clear up quickly, meara.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

That is for sure unfair, meara.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I had a quiet evening at home, reading (1.5 books shy of my goal for the year) while the cats stalked a house centipede.

Woke up to feed the cats, take an anti-inflammatory med (for my ankle) and cold medicine so I can breathe, went back to bed and slept til noon.

I just got a request to be interviewed on a podcast. I don't think speaking in any kind of public format is a strength of mine. I guess I should check out this podcast to make a fully informed decision.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

FWIW, a good interviewer can do a lot to bring out the best in a guest.

I had a nice and fun evening doing what I love -- chatting with long-time friends in a little house party. We're for the most part old enough now that we're trading stories about hospitalizations and illnesses, alas, but at least in a positive way, you know?

I'm still coming to terms with turning 60.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy New Year!

After we left the party, we went home and put Mr. S to bed. A bit after that, friends of ours showed up and we played games and chatted until midnight.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I just sold my second thing of FB marketplace in 2 days. Not big money, but I am just sitting around the house anyway. Yesterday sold my Rebounder for $5 and today sold 3 multi-colored strands of Christmas lights for $1 each. I have 5 more things listed with an inquiry on one of them.

I'm off to help my mom with a chore, but when I come back, the goal is to list higher dollar clothing items on ebay - $10 min selling price is my new ebay rule for clothes.

brillig

It's supposed to be 9 degrees when I leave in the morning. The sun's going down and it's getting colder in my apartment now I no longer have the sun pouring in. My decision to get a south-facing place was a good one. But it's time to put on another layer.

Our wings are not tired.

I have put all my old lights into a big box for disposal as I am determined to get LEDs for next year. My outside lights this year were LED but I need tree lights and maybe some icicles for next year. Lowe's has them 75% off so I'll get some tomorrow. Right now the county recycling center is getting the old ones unless I find someone that wants them. I have a seriously large quantity that need to go. (It is absurdly difficult for me to toss things that work but I am forcing myself to do so)

They actually accept Xmas lights for recycling?!

I am so the child of Depression-era kids, have huge troubles throwing anything out that could theoretically somehow be repaired.
