My house guest left! She was only supposed to stay a night, but it had (for good reasons) to be extended an extra day. I don't usually have guests, so it was kind of tiring. She was a roommate back in college and we're still friends, so it's kind of cool.

Gorgeous day in San Francisco but I am housebound with Matilda who got my sick.

She's snoring on the couch now after ibuprofen and claritin.

It has been pouring rain all night and all day. Lots of flooding and road closures. It's freaking people out. We've ahd so lunch rain this year and then the snow (which is still on the ground in some places) and now this. I have to take the long way home but if one section of road floods I have no idea how I'm going to make it.

Update on the roommate's heart-valve operation, they've got an ombudsman on the case and it sounds like she's taking numbers and kicking asses. Of course, with the holiday, it'll still take time to get unsnarled. Evidently, the operation was APPROVED back in October, but because of Reasons it was put off and probably didn't need to be resubmitted. Ay yi yi.

Anyway, with any luck it should go through.

Gary's work gave everyone this week off, lucky guy. He's gone to pick up Mr. S from daycare, and I have Nova on my lap.

Drove home from DC today in the rain. Left BFF's house in northern VA at about 9:15. Stopped for gas and coffee, and was on the road until 5PM (one short break for Popeye's). Exhausting.

That's a long drive, Vortex!

I made molasses cookies, went to PT, and have a friend coming over later for dinner and a movie, which will be nice. But oh man, does my hip and back hurt from getting around the past few months. I am so off-balance. I measured recently and my right thigh is a full inch smaller than my left (even though I've been using it somewhat, with the knee crutch and stuff) and my calf is two inches smaller than my left one! It looks withered. But I'm almost not looking forward to being able to put weight on it, because that's going to be a lot of hard and painful work! Right now, pt is just massage and flexing and icing, only painful when they're doing cupping on the scar. But soon it'll be a world of ow. But guess I gotta get through it to walk and dance. Here's praying next week thye have good news for me! I'm trying to write down questions I have for the docs but feel like I'm forgetting some.
