Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Happy Birthday, Theodosia!

Happy Birthday, Jesse!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We have a very ethnically diverse family so the food included Haitian griyo and spicy pikliz, and lots of festive rice. The Italian crew brought eggplant parm and baked ziti as well as bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms. The Bahamians and Cubans contributed a super tasty concoction that involved jalapenos, tons of sweets, and adult beverages. More than half the group is vegetarian, but there was still pork (griyo), ham, and turkey as well as the meaty lasagna I made for the carnivores.

That sounds amazing.

Happy birthday to Theodosia and also Rayne!!

Our wings are not tired.

So, do any of you people simultaneously mirror write? As in write normal direction with your right hand while writing backwards the same thing with your left hand at the same time. We knew my nephew was ambidextrous (he's 5), but when he was practicing his writing rather than his usual switching hands he had pencils in both hands and was writing with both of them at the same time in mirror image. This caused his mother to remember that she used to do that for fun when she was younger and found she still could. Like this video - [link]

Personally my left hand is a worthless appendage so I didn't bother to try, but it was way cool to watch. And apparently quite rare.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

As in write normal direction with your right hand while writing backwards the same thing with your left hand at the same time.

My brother did this! It was so weird!

Happy birthdays Jesse and Theodosia!

Happy Birthday Theodosia and Jesse!

Christmas Eve was a nice afternoon of pizza and visiting with the extended family on Mom's side, then hanging out just the two of us in the evening. Yesterday Mom and I went to my best friend's for lunch, and there were sitcom-esque antics with the turkey and other foods (but a delicious meal was still had by all).

Happy birthdays Jesse, Rayne, and Theo!

That sounds like a wonderful time with wonderful food, Laura. Yay!

Close to half if not over half of the department is out today. Peaceful.

Wow, I'm left handed and can write slowly but semi-legibly with my right hand, but definitely not mirrored!

Laura that crazy feast sounds awesome! My plan for today is...read more Yuletide?

Good plan, meara.

I need a hot beverage. Do I want coffee or cider? Or tea, I suppose, but that doesn't sound as appealing at the moment.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I love reading about everyone's holidays! We had our usual movie day. Stared with "Vice," which was beautifully acted but I already knew Dick Cheney was evil as fuck, so it didn't cover any new ground. Ten "Mary Poppins" which I loved, even though it could have deviated a bit more from the origin, IMO. Honestly, I could watch Lin Manuel Miranda smile his irresistibly sweet smile ALL DAY. Last movie was "Aquaman," and in spite of the scorching hotness of Momoa, we both found pretty horrible and we actually left before the end--something we almost never do.

DH gave me a waterproof Kindle for reading in the bathtub! I gave him a bat house for our backyard and he spent a good part of the evening last night researching bats.
