Spike? It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding on to false hope, but…I knew you'd come back. You're like…you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh…he's alive Frodo. He's alive.

Nice to see you, Volans! I echo what Laura said.

It is a temperature that starts with a three here today - I think this may be the first one we've had so far. Not quite sure what to do with that. Stay in as usual, I guess.

I have some mildly onerus calls to make today, so I should do that before 11a and just get it over with, right? Right.

move out and draw fire

I hope all is well with you and your family outside of the grim work conditions.

We're as good as can be. The DH took early retirement (at age 50) to get out of this administration, and has been much happier. Mal and I had covid back in January (we were overseas in December) but mild versions and I'd been tracking it for work so we quarantined immediately and didn't spread it.

Mostly I've just really been missing the Buffistas in aggregate - the intermittent sightings on other platforms are not sufficient.

Have you seen the German video that shows an older man talking....

Three videos have gone up so far. Here is a link with English subtitles:

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

It is a temperature that starts with a three here today

I shouldn't admit this, but my first reaction (seriously) was "300 degrees OH MY GOD...wait."

Clearly I need more coffee.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

It is a temperature that starts with a three here today

Interestingly, that is the case over here as well.

Our wings are not tired.

Well, I could talk about the glory that is South Florida in November. I celebrated our cold front that came in last night and opened up my windows. It is apparently 78F out, but very breezy so it feels chilly to this thinned blooded Floridian. Also, billytea, I'm hoping that there is a very low number after that three!

Ugh. I always get more headaches in winter and I don’t know why. But I hate it. Had one Monday, had one last night that continues into this morning.

Those German ads are great.

Raq that is awful being in a windowless room sans internet. Even without covid that sounds awful. Ick.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Silly/convoluted thing from work I have to share.

Every other week I gather and submit all the hours our department spends on COVID related things. For this example assume the first and third weeks of each month are A and the second and fourth are B. These timesheets are A/B

The weeks I do not do this form, I submit a timesheet for Big Boss to her boss of just her COVID time. These timesheets are B/A.

Could they have coordinated to be due the same weeks? You would think, but no.

Big boss does not actually keep her time so I guess and send in to her fir approval. As shown in previous examples Big Boss is prone to mis-reading and making things very confused, so we use just the one timesheets for her.

So the issue is, when I get her timesheet for her boss approved, I have only half of her time I need for the Department submittal. I then send her a half-filled out timesheet to just approve the time on the first week, she ALWAYS sends it back with the full thing filled out and signed and locked. So she fills out FUTURE TIME! It is so ridiculous and makes me laugh every time. Like how?!?!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

...filled out and signed and locked. So she fills out FUTURE TIME!

She's not signing under penalty of perjury, is she?

What are the consequences if she ends up not working the hours reported?

Policy came down from my VP back in March that there would be no overtime without prior written notice from her. I have been abiding by that, even though it is very awkward when patches are released towards the end of a payroll cycle. My manager is not happy about it. Too bad.
