Kaylee: So how many fell madly in love with you and wanted to take you away from all this? Inara: Just the one. I think I'm slipping.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Ugh, Tim is a little worried about Covid. There are 2 people at his work on day shift who tested positive, although he's still second shift and never ever crossed paths with those 2 people. But since Thursday he's had a dry cough and is very fatigued and has muscle aches and nausea. No fever. No problems breathing.

The CDC's website has a coronavirus self-checker that's a questionnaire based on symptoms, general physical condition, etc. Once I checked the box for "takes medication that suppresses immune system," it popped up a box that said "Call your medical provider." I think it's a better-safe-than-sorry response, but yeah -- if he's worried, he should follow up.

The urgent care near us does telehealth visits for Covid pre-screening, so he's going to see if he can do that today and see if they want him to go in to get tested.

Covid is so freaking annoying because of how its symptoms are vague enough that they overlap with generic viruses and/or seasonal allergies. And no one needs to worry every damn time they cough, you know? Gah.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Ah, hell, Teppy, I hope it's a generic bug (and what kind of fucked-up timeline is it where I'm actively wishing for that?) and that he can get in easily, if he needs a test.

JZ, thank you for attempting to fact-smack the idiots who showed up on my FB post. I appreciate it.

Breakfast pie:

Someone in one of my FB groups wondered, in light of Deutsche Bank's looking to call in the incumbent's debts and seize assets if he can't repay his loans, if they had considered Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" for their hold queue music?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

We starting to have random Covid testing where I work (assisted living), so I'm up on Monday morning. I think it's a good thing, there's a definite uptick going on, and these are a vulnerable population. There's a meme I posted on Fbook -- "Remember how careful you were in March and April? It's time for that again!"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Fingers crossed for Tim, Steph. Ugh.

Update: he just took his temperature and it's 99; that seems like no big deal, but his normal temp is consistently 97, so I don't know if 2 degrees should be concerning. Probably not.

Ah, hell, Teppy, I hope it's a generic bug (and what kind of fucked-up timeline is it where I'm actively wishing for that?)

Right? "Be a random virus. Come on, random virus!" He did get a flu vaccine a month ago, and while the vaccine isn't a guarantee of 100% protection, it's still probably not the actual flu.

If I had to bet, I'd bet random low-grade virus. But I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to get tested for Covid, since he takes immunosuppressants.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It would not be a bad idea for him to get tested, Steph.

My kid is still freaked out but we are working on it.

I am happy but not yet relieved. I know I should be. But I can't make myself celebrate until that truculent toad is ejected from the West Wing with extreme prejudice.
