On the subject of anxiety:

Indeed. I did actually take the high road and say to ungrateful entitled ass son that I understood that he had new house/new job position/impending fatherhood stresses on top of all the rest of stresses weighing us all down. Eh, maybe it will help. Whatever. Still pissed and hurt, but trying to be all adult and stuff.

Thrive to spite them

Health ~ma to ltc.

So I just had an almost 4 hour phone call with dad about politics. To sum up he feels that Biden will make the country worse than Trump even though he doesn't like Trump and doesn't think he has real plans but he has limited immigration and helped the economy and Biden will just cause the government to get too big and destroy the economy. And Biden is a weak leader and Trump is a strong leader.

At one point he told me he opposed Biden's tax plan even though he hadn't read what Biden was going to do . I found Biden's platform and read the details and had hated every idea. And then I found Trump's platform and read it , which is only 2 bullet points.

I told him if he had any questions Bidens platform is full of ideas and concrete info.

He won't vote for Biden. He hates all the Democrats and Republicans and I think the best I can hope is he won't vote for President.

When we get internet back (please let it be soon M is going to go stir crazy without Xbox) I need to look up articles about what the black community is doing about black on black violence since dad believes black Americans don't care about their own lives.

I also broke down what toxic masculinity actually means and the concept systematic racism. I ....rambled a lot.

It was intense. And I'm left feeling kinda sad about how dad views the world .

Thrive to spite them

The whole conversation started because dad said he didn't understand why so many more people were voting this election and why it was different

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

askye, I think even if your dad doesn't change his mind, you did a good thing in trying to bridge that gap and explain your own views. And who knows, maybe something you said resonated with some part of him, even if he'd never say so.

Our wings are not tired.

You are a patient daughter, askye. I've lost patience completely with the Trump folks, no matter how close they are to me.

Thrive to spite them

I tried to be calm and understanding and all that. There are some things we do agree on (Healthcare for all but Dad opposes universal healthcare) but too many of our values are different.
