Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope that manager 2 position works out, Cass.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ugh, msbelle! That's the worst. I hope you're on the mend.

I would like some of Vortex's pies, and for Cass to get that job.

I hope you're feeling better this morning, msbelle. I hope you can eat something! Maybe not breakfast pie just yet, but something.

Here's to lazy, snuggle-y Satudays. We are also visiting my aunt for the first time since the before times, on her deck with masks. Then Walgreens and Aldi, then in for the day and relaxation. Probably a walk later.

I, too, would like Votex's pies, please.

Good positions-working-out-well vibes -t and Cass's way. Well,and everyone's way as needed.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Glad the fever broke, hope you can rest and recover and eat a little. Everything sucks, hatred makes sense.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

baked oatmeal recipe

Basically, per serving, you want 1/2 cup wet ingredients, 1/2 cup oats, and flavorings. Bake the mixture at 380 for 20 minutes.

It can be super simple, or very fancy, depending on how you are feeling each morning. If you have enough ramekins (or pyrex bowls) you can mix a few and have them in the fridge ready to pop in the oven while you shower and get dressed in the morning.

Wet ingredients can be mashed banana, pumpkin puree, applesauce, milk, whatever you have around). Some fat helps: I usually dallop some coconut oil in the bottom of the container, it melts while baking and soaks in. Or a tablespoon of a nut butter, I guess dairy butter would be fine if you like that kind of thing ;P A pinch of salt is a must, and a dash of vanilla extract makes it extra desserty. Add-ins are great for texture. Chopped nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips....it's all good.

Have I mentioned how much I love baked oatmeal? Sometimes I have one for dessert. With chocolate chips, of course, and a drizzle of honey over the top that crystallizes. Yuuuuummmm.

edited to fix link. Also to note that there is an added bonus of making your kitchen smell amazing. Oh, and works great in a toaster oven, no need to use the full oven unless you are making a big batch. Approximate ration of 1=1/ wet=dry for rolled oats. Steel cut needs more liquid and longer bake time.

Ooh, that sounds like a good breakfast option to add to my repertoire! I do like things I can have ready to go and just pop in the oven.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hope you're feeling better, msbelle.

Cass, hope that position works out for you.

Tired. Busy week at work, my workplace is the most frustratingly disorganized place I've ever worked. I was distracted all week by my niece being here; I wanted to be doing stuff with her instead of working! Next time she comes, I'll take a couple vacation days.

My niece is a small orange-haired tornado who never stops talking and making random noises. I enjoyed her company and I kinda miss her already, but it is nice to have the house back and a chance to clean. She helped me immensely by clearing the logjam of the biggest mess that I couldn't, mentally or physically, handle by myself. We took 2.5 station-wagon-loads of stuff to the rummage store. But, ironically, she is just a generally messy person. After she cooks, the kitchen looks like a Jackson Pollack painting. So this weekend I'm cleaning up from the clean-out. It was worth it; I truly don't mind, I knew she was messy before I invited her. I just think it's funny that with all the mess she helped me clean up, she created other messes in her wake! Somewhere in it, we've lost a mask, a pair of leggings, and a couple other things that she put down... somewhere... and they disappeared. As I've said before, having ADHD is like living with a poltergeist. Two people with ADHD in one house is a full-on haunting.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

This weekend was supposed to be OVFF(Ohio Valley Filk Fest). Instead, we have a virtual con on Zoom, NOVFF. Not sure when the next in-person con will be. sigh...
