I'll be fine. I'll be your bounty, Jubal Early. And I'll just fade away.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Somehow I timed it just right, and there was no line when I went to vote (despite there being an around-the-corner line earlier) and a line was 3 deep when I came out of voting.

They did not have stickers. I am trying hard to be adult about this.

Zen, I hope the rest of the flight is trouble free and you and your neice have a good visit.

Ditto

We are not going up tot he big Thanksgiving "Do" in PA, but we are probably going to go up for Christmas; it will be just my sister, her wife, their daughter and her boyfriend. It kind of depends on when my niece and her boyfriend go up for Christmas. They're in Atlanta right now - both very conscientious, and they isolate, but I'd be happiest if they were back for a couple of weeks before Christmas and all healthy and stuff. I dunno. We'll see.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Niece made it to the gate on time for her connecting flight, yay. She's now decided that flying is pretty great if only there weren't so many people, so she's pretty much where I am w.r.t air travel.

Thrive to spite them

Riiiiight, because grump is a beacon of morality in that respect.

I don't understand my dad and Trump. He doesn't like him at all, didn't vote for him but gets weirdly defensive when people criticize Trump. I know the last time we briefly talked about politics Dad indicated he was for higher minimum wage, better benefits/protections for workers and "everyone should have healthcare". But he won't vote Democrat because... Democrats are secular heathen-y people who embrace bad things (in his mind)

And he is very anti anything that isn't heterosexuality which I kept hoping he would change or mellow but he hasn't.

Mom has become more progressive as she has gotten older and is confused by Dad's weirdness about Trump as I am.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My mother and I just drove out to my cousin's in the burbs to peep some leaves, pick up some books, and hang out on her patio for a bit, and then we got some apples and a pumpkin on the way back. Autumn!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

TCG, ltc, and myself will be having our first Thanksgiving that will be just the three of us.

I think we are still going to my uncle and aunt's, who will be hosting in their open garage with space heaters. It's not perfect -- I'm sure people will be too close while eating -- but we'll see.

Off to put on pants and eyebrows and go pick up my niece from the airport. I'm excited. She's never been to my house before.

Awesome! I haven't done anything to ring in the fall yet, really. I think I need to buy some cider and heat it up or something. Baking might be too ambitious currently.

Yay, Zen! Have fun.

I went (with the dog) this morning to see some friends who normally play soccer together, but obviously team sports for adults have been canceled since March. But now they're allowed to do a scrimmage with space, just not regular games. So a few of them showed up, and it was nice to see some folks that I hadn't seen in over six months! They're not close friends by any means, and a few I keep up with on social media, but it was still so nice to see different people!

Then my roommate came home and brought fried chicken and Mac and cheese and collard greens, which was a fun surprise. I did a bit of cleaning and organizing, and watched some TV, and made cookie dough (haven't baked it yet). Trying to decide if I want to take the dog to the dog park--I'm tired, but it helps tire him out, but he already ran around a bunch at the soccer field, does he really need to, but tomorrow will be raining...round and round in circles I go.
