Gunn: Well, how horrible is this thing? Lorne: I haven't read the Book of Revelations lately, but if I was searching for adjectives, I'd probably start there.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh jeez, Dana. What a cluster. Good luck with all of that!

Flea, I had five months off not during a pandemic and was only really starting to get bored. I think 3 months during a pandemic is barely scratching the surface. Though if you're already at "cleaning the oven" you may be further along than I was.

Heh. Yeah, three months in doesn't sound like time to worry if you don't feeeeeel like going back to work. Like, if you have to and you need a job, that's another story, but these months? Not exactly good for head-clearing and mental recovery.

I should really take a whole week off, since I'm maxed out on carry-over, but there doesn't seem to be a good time and what am I going to do anyway and meh. At least I'm feeling better mentally than a few weeks ago!

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

I am ready for the Zoom meeting in which four friends and me will be watching the season opener for Pacific Northwest Ballet. Primary differences between this and a normal season are pajamas, sofas and in my case, a plate of nachos the size of my head.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Cass, argh. I am rooting for your triumph.

My ballot is in the mail to me! I can log in, track and everything. I get email updates now.

That was a shitty experience and I honestly think it would likely have made me vote provisional at best and that's not good enough this year. Or any year.

Cass, the WaPo would love to hear from you. [link]

Absolutely.

I always do the headphones in for even cleanings with my amazing hygienist. Real dentistry gets both earbuds.

When I last gave blood, the nurse doing my intake looked up my history and saw I had an incomplete donation the previous time and says "was it me?" and I told her how everyone kind of pitched in to t try to get that pint out of me but we couldn't do it, and then as I was actually donating another nurse came by and "my" nurse told her she was paying special attention to me because of the previous time and she immediately says "was it me?" So, hoping Epic's jerk learns from her bad experience as that seems to be the norm and expectation

I'm always so happy when people who do human or animal medical things try to make it better and honestly feel like they want to improve if they blow a vein.

and instead got a whole spatchcocked chicken, and she put it in her crockpot, and I am so sad for her!

Such a lost opportunity to roast.

fuuuuuck insurance I am going to be on the phone all afternoon

All the ~ma I had, Dana, is yours.

You guys, they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes. Also, I should listen closely, because their options have changed. And for the trifecta, I should check their website, which answers most questions.

Exactly none of these are true. They do not care about your call, you're already waiting, their options are the same and there is not a damn thing you can do on their website or you, a sane-ish Buffista, would have already have done so on the website.

For we are not the call just to listen to hold music kind of 'fistas.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's always "the options have changed" that gets me. Everyone's options have always changed! How is that possible?!? How has every single business always just changed their options?

At my office the options are still 1. Leave a message and 2. Don't leave a message but then bitch we never called you back. Lots of people are fans of 2.

Herding cats for fun

Spatchcock chicken + cast iron frying pan + hot oven = fantastic supper. I can DIY with poultry shears! So once this infernally hot weather finally ends I will want to do that again.

I love the word spatchcocked. I also love the result of doing one right, but the actual word is just the best. I think I only learned the word and the method within the last five years, maybe? So much lost opportunity.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I had never heard of spatchcocked before today.
