Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, I guess I know slightly more but mostly I just don't know what's going to happen. They say there are no plans to cut positions but they always say that. And even if that is true, it looks like a pretty big change to what the point of my job is and it seems like it is moving away from the parts of it I like best. I'm really unhappy about all this at the moment but I'm also very hungry, so that is probably coloring everything. Time for shower and lunch.

Sorry for not actually responding to stuff y'all are posting - I am thinking responses as I read but I can't hold them in my head long enough to get them out through my fingers

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh jeez, -t, I hope things look better after a shower and lunch, and mostly I hope that it's not as bad for you as it sounds!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Hope things turn out in a better-than-you're-currently-expecting way, -t!

Best outcome~ma, Shir!

Glad you weren't traumatized, Jen!

Not to be all mememe but you reminded me of when I donated blood last weekend, not in a good way. But I've been wanting to vent somewhere, so thanks! The nurse/phlebotomist was ticking me off in little ways by the way he was speaking to me, then something went wrong and he HURT me. I keep trying not to think he was subconsciously punishing me, but the thought is still there. Good news though: when a patient/client goes from joking around to stoically silent to making that quick indrawn hissing breath of pain with a few tears in a very short time frame, 2-3 better nurse/phlebotomists rush over and make things better. And if the tears keep flowing because you're frustrated and pissed off in addition to the pain, the fact that they still think you're in pain kind of helps to get extra solicitous treatment. So, I managed to finish my pint and get outta there, and I know who is not going to touch me ever again.

On a related note: what have we decided is the appropriate response when someone apologizes, but you're not gonna say "It's OK" because it's not, at least not yet?

Also, I'm leaving work early today to go to the dentist because I have to get a new crown. I'm planning to take my ipod and listen to music (one earbud only) because it helps me to remain chill while it's going on. Last time, the dentist was kind of a jerk about the ipod. So I'm stressing about the dental work and because I'm afraid the dentist is going to be a jerk. I am just not in the correct brain space to put up with another man being a jerk right now, y'know?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We got the Amazon catalog here. Didn't look through it, though Mr. S grabbed it because stickers.

What is even happening?

Shir, I hope the job situation goes in the way that is best for you.

-t, I hope it works out better for you, than it seems right now.

Epic, I hope your dentist isn't a jerk. Mine is, and I decided to leave him before I bite him (as he launches into pro-Trump or anti-choice tirades when his fingers are in my mouth), then -- pandemic.

On a related note: what have we decided is the appropriate response when someone apologizes, but you're not gonna say "It's OK" because it's not, at least not yet?

I think maybe, "Thank you," is an acknowledgment without acceptance. I'm honestly not sure. I have trouble with this, too. My default setting is to say things are okay when they're not. It's a hard thing to grow out of with grace.

Sorry for the jerks, Epic.

what have we decided is the appropriate response when someone apologizes, but you're not gonna say "It's OK" because it's not, at least not yet?

I don't know if there is a universally correct response, but I congratulate you on not jus saying "It's OK" because that's what you say! Maybe "I appreciate the apology" or something along those lines?

Lunch helped. It is probably not that bad and if it turns out that this shifts my job satisfaction to the point where I need to find a different job, that is not necessarily so bad, either. and at least one thing that is bothering me is objectively stupid (changing the name of our group to Customer Service and I don't even know why that sticks in my craw but it sure does)

I don't think I've gotten an Amazon catalog but if it was in with the other junk mail I might not have noticed.

Ugh, Cindy, yeah that seems like a good way for a dentist to get bit.

He's got a real air of aggression about him, too. This male dentist is married to a female dentist, and they own the practice together. For years though, I didn't see either of them. I was treated by a younger female dentist, who was lovely. She's since left. I think she's opened up her own practice nearby, so she's probably who I'll call.
