You do well to flee, townspeople! I will pillage your lands and dwellings! I will burn your crops and make merry sport with your more attractive daughters! Ha ha ha! Mark my words! Ooh! Ale! I smell delicious ale!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Whoa, JenP. That was a lot to go through, thankfully to a decent outcome (and how lucky are we that 'gluten-free' is a much more easy thing to achieve because of food trends now!)

Our wings are not tired.

I am so glad you are the other side of that ordeal, JenP. And yes, healthcare-ers are really amazing.

The cats were amazing on the trip. I took 3 days coming up by myself. I hauled their carrier into a hotel room 2 nights. They never made a peep in the car, except when I was on the phone then they meowed to let people know they were being held captive. They ate and used my disposable litter box without issue in the hotel rooms and let me get me get them back into the carrier (reluctantly) in the morning. I was so relieved. The dog is frankly more of a pain, barking and requiring walks and stuff.

That sounds like a heck of a lot, JenP. I'm glad things are significantly better for you now.

Thank you - it... was a lot! But, fortunatley, not too much.

Yes, and thanks, and no kidding about gluten-free these days!

Thanks, Laura. I have to say, I LOVE dogs, but dear lord, cats are so much easier. If I recall right, your cats look a lot like my cats! I get my dog fix up at my sister's place; they have two right now, and my sister is angling her way towards #3. Her wife is refusing as of right now, but... she usually caves, heh.

Timelies all!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Holy shit, Jen, that's a lot! And I'm glad things have worked out finally! Phew.

I am never moving, god willing, but do still look up places for sale I walk by. It is crazy out there (here).

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I surf realtor.com a lot for places I'd consider moving. It's interesting to get a sense of neighborhoods and prices. Sometimes it can be fun to look at the carefully shot photo of a house on the realtor site and then check out the address on google street view. Yes, that porch is great! You'll have a relaxing view of that literal junkyard next door while standing on it.

Since my job hunting would all be for places a plane ride or 14+ hour drive away, I've paused it until we get a handle on COVID. So, hopefully, I'll get back to it sometime next year. I don't dislike my current job. I just wish it was located a 14+ hour drive north-northwest.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Jen, that's a hell lot to go through. I'm glad you are doing better.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The Real Estate market in SF - which has been bananacakes for more than a decade - is really changing quickly right now. So many techies fleeing the City for the suburbs or other cities entirely to work remotely. Also so many people dumping their AirBnB properties on the market at the same time is creating a surge in supply. Plus the overbuild of condos when people want Single family homes.

Rents have already dropped 20%. Our five unit building suddenly has two open units. I know megan walker said there were a lot of vacancies in her building now too.

The buying market is moving more slowly but it is trending down a bit for the first time in forever. And places are staying on the market longer.

Wow, that's a lot of change for SF.

Thanks, Jesse and Shir! Feels good to feel good.

We are ordering burgers and fries to celebrate DP's first day at the new job. But really, it's because I wanted a burger and fries, and we have neither on hand.

A 4-bedroom near me sold for $1.7m in June, after selling for $1.3m in 2015. It's really crazy.

Mmmm.... I would also like a burger and fries.
