My recent "Fandom old" moment was listening to a podcast talking about fic. They did the Trek zines thing, then skipped straight to the Harry Potter and lj strike-through Era. And I was all "offa my damn lawn" and had to stop listening.

This seems a bit more than I remember from the past - there has been the lying in state, funeral from the cathedral, flags lowered, etc., but I don't remember the National Day of Mourning with the government closing down.

I copyedit almost everything that goes out of my office and I recognize an unfortunate number of those. I think I'm especially annoyed by the misused apostrophes.

There was a day or mourning for Reagan complete with government closure. Only good thing that man ever did for me.
I think the fanfare over GHW Bush might be because he is the most recent president to die. When Reagan died, or Nixon, they had been out of office for longer.
Was Jimmy Carter not at the service? I didn't see him. I did notice that the camera went close-up on all of the former presidents except the asshole in chief, who looked bored, confused and pissed off in equal measures.
