I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, fuck ALL of that, Steph.

Thrive to spite them

I am trying to figure out if there is going to be early in person voting in SC or not. I kept reading something that sounded like there was but no details. SC has no early voting at all. Under normal times you either show up and vote on Election Day or you vote absentee but only very limited people.

This year they have expanded absentee voting to anyone but you still need a witness to sign the absentee ballot. I would rather brave early in person voting if possible. You can't vote in person if you have requested an absentee ballot unless you go and do something to cancel the absentee ballot. So I'm kind of playing chicken with this.

Our wings are not tired.

I'll vote early in person as I need to see the machine record my vote. I don't trust the mail system although it worked wonderfully during the primary.

I'll be working the polls so maybe we will get to vote first!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'll vote early in person as I need to see the machine record my vote. I don't trust the mail system although it worked wonderfully during the primary.

The fuckery that's been going on at USPS has me really worried as well - I've had several first class letters take WEEKS to arrive recently, and a few packages that may have simply vanished.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

We're early voting via absentee ballot, but are going to drop the ballots off in the drop box at the Board of Elections, because I don't want to vote in person (as much as I love my neighborhood and know I'll be voting among a group of people who more or less share my political views, I just don't want to deal with coronavirus nonsense).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'll vote early in person as I need to see the machine record my vote.

Ditto, plus I just love the Scantron machine. So reliable! Paper trail! Records tally instantly AND you can audit the paper ballots.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'll be working the polls so maybe we will get to vote first!

My parents had to vote absentee when they worked the polls. They never worked their own precinct, not sure if that's why

I'm planning on dropping off my ballot early rather than mailing. I do like voting in person but this year I want my vote officially received as early as possible!

Our wings are not tired.

Everyone should vote Scantron. When I worked on a recount it was awesome to have all the rejected ballots to view by human eyes. Also, people weird and write all kinds of stuff on ballots.

The 'naked ballots' thing in PA is crazy. I really hope it has been publicized enough that people do it right.

Dropping off at a drop box is definitely better than the mail. Ohio numbers have been discouraging. I hope the sane people step up.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My parents had to vote absentee when they worked the polls. They never worked their own precinct, not sure if that's why

I think they told me that's why we get two hours off -- to go vote at our own precinct -- but all of my fellow workers had voted early or by "mail." (The city put dropboxes outside every polling place.)

Scantron is the best. We've used it here forever.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We have early voting here. So I'll be voting in person, probably on the day the polls open (Oct. 15). I've been having my groceries delivered or picked them up outside the store and I've been working from home since March. But I'm less endangered by COVID than many, so I'm willing to take the risk to see my ballot go into the machine and get counted. It helps that my voting places are in areas where pretty much everyone is wearing a mask.

It's a problem when participating in democracy means weighing potential death/disabling vs. actually being counted.
