msbelle, I'm sorry things with Mac are so hard. If he's still thinking about the military, or you are on his behalf, don't forget the Coast Guard. They get good training, get to live all over the country, have a mission that anyone can support, and don't have to worry much about getting shot at...

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Good thought, Consuela. I had a friend who was career Coast Guard. His last area was Key West, which was pretty sweet.
Y'all, I have been running from meeting to meeting all day, including literally. I haven't gotten that many emails today, but I had four voicemails! This is not normal. My last meeting, the people called to say they were here so I could let them in, I hung up, my phone rang immediately. So I thought it was still them? No! It was someone else who wanted to talk to me!
Stop wanting to talk to me, people!!!!!
Stop wanting to talk to me, people!!!!!
Especially on Friday afternoon!
The Coast Guard does get to shoot now and then, mostly at smugglers who are trying to outrun them in speedboats and whatnot. But most services have a lot of jobs that are non-combat support.
(When I look at the difference in my brothers, it's the one who went ROTC who is definitely more successful, even if they're identical twins.)
Hubby was Coast Guard, he did shoot and get shot at.
In Florida they deal with drug smugglers, and get to guard Mar-A-Lago when the idiot is in residence.
My nephew just took the aptitude test to apply to be a radio operator for the Coast Guard (it's what his mother does.) He failed this time, but so did everyone else?? He's now thinking about taking French until he can retake it.
Timelies all!
It's Friday. Not that the weekend will be all that relaxing, with Mr.S being a 3 year old....
