Much love and peace to esse and their family.
Health~ma to Hil and Laura's son, may you all be well!
Congrats to Gud and Shir!
So worried about the entire West Coast. Be safe, everyone.
Had a couple minor problems at work this week due to misunderstandings/miscommunications, but after reading msbelle's and Dana's sagas, I'm feeling much less like complaining.
Timelies all!
{{{esse and family}}}
Took both cats to the vet for their annual checkup and shots.(with the usual amount of fun in getting them into the carriers-I have a few new scratches on my arms) Poor Luna has some sort of chest congestion. They took X-rays which will be looked at by a radiologist on Monday. I hope I don't have to give her meds, since she doesn't let anyone touch her.
Esse, much love to you, your dad, and your whole family.
Laura, I hope your son will be well and quickly.
Hil, I hope you feel better, too. I am entirely over doctors who don't call back.
msbelle, your work story made me stabby on your behalf. That is utter bullshirt.
Shir, I hope your roommate will be okay and that you stay healthy. I missed what we're congratulating you on, but congratulations anyhow.
I saw this:

And thought, why is Shir posting New Year greetings, not because I don't know when Rosh Hashanah is, but because I don't know when I am.
Shana Tova
And while I'm getting belated, happy belated birthday, Trudy. May this coming year be better than the last. (The bar, she is low.)
Congrats on the job, Gud!
Debet and Gris and everyone else having a hard time at work right now, I hope it get better.
I hope Luna is okay too, Sheryl.

Dark!!
I'm sorry, esse. Best thoughts.
not because I don't know when Rosh Hashanah is, but because I don't know when I am.
Oh, I can relate to that very much.
I missed what we're congratulating you on, but congratulations anyhow.
Thank you! After a year and two months of studying and getting specific grade average and submitting a thesis proposal and getting a recommendation and going through an ethics committee, I heard on Tuesday that I am now officially a research student. Who cannot do ethnography due to COVID, but I'll figure how to work around it (eh, Zoom interviews, I guess).
I left the house for The first time in maybe 2 weeks, driving and everything. Got myself a burrito for lunch then pumped gas and went through the car wash. As I'm pulling back into the road to be on my way to my parents' for my dad's birthday it feels like I run into a curb and the car starts feeling and sounding wrong so I pull back into the next parking lot (Taco Bell (Not where I got lunch)) and confirm I have a flat. Dig out the spare and the jack, realize I have not changed a tire on this car before and this jack is different from what I am used to, so I call my mom to ask about that. She can't remember and puts my dad on. He has to talk me through every step to get to where the jack goes, but we manage that, and as I am struggling to get the bolts off two very kind passers-by stop to help me and get the tire changed at least twice as fast as I would have, hooray! Now waiting at a tire place for repair or replacement....
Wheee, vacation
Not sure this whole leaving the house idea was a good one is what I'm saying.
Sounds like! Sorry.
I have the zoom invite now, so that's good.
There's an auto shop by my folks that gives you a coupon for a free beer at a nearby bar while you wait. There are some problems with that system but it sure sounds good right now!
